I've had this domain name for some time now, I thought now would be a good time to launch a website for it, especially after a few people started begging me for something.

Sevenize itself isn't ready just yet, but I've been searching the Internet for existing work, and I'm pleased to announce that Alexandru Ghinea, creator of the Windows 7 Refresh Pack, has allowed me to use his work in Sevenize. If anyone has any other suggestions or pre-made improvements let me know and I'll work on including them.

I'm also working with Long Zheng with his windows 7 Taskforce website to see what UI quirks we can fix.

Discuss!

EDIT: Oh, here's the URL: http://www.sevenize.com

Whilst we're at it, can people please post suggestions for fixes in this thread?

Remember, Sevenize is about making Windows 7 more consistent and cohesive with other Microsoft products, it isn't about making Windows a garsh smorgasbord of crudly photoshopped wallpapers and Rainmeter skins. For example, I might include third-party wallpapers, but only if they're of exceptional quality and look like something Microsoft might produce themselves.

As a 'developers commentary' I'll say I'm glad Windows 7 got rid of wizard sidebar images, those were a right pain to produce :P

White tray icons for all apps, just like default W7 icons: http://xjannikx.devi...white-187515430
And All old cursors from system: http://alexandru-r-g...k-1-1-178925885 (I know you have already seen this, w3bbo, but just for help)

A new forum just for it. Here (XPiza) could be confusing.

Yes, only do what is necessary, if people want more change then they can make their own icon pack

You think there would be a way to force installation programs to use the higher quality icon used by Programs and Features instead of that low-quality pixel art icon from Windows 2000?

Hi W3bbo! I'd like to see regedit.exe main icon fixed :).

Also +1 for making separate forum for Sevenize.

P.S. If you'll need Russian translation for Sevenize just let me know :).

Alright, I found two errors:

1. The Desktop and Taskbar/Start Menu control panel icons depict the Vista taskbar.
2. The Properties window for a hard drive has a pixel art traffic light icon in it, seen here:

Question: Are these just the Vista cursors, which don't contain high DPI cursors, or are they the actual fixed Windows 7 cursors as seen here?

It already have this fix, I don't think it has high DPI, since it replace cursors from .dll files. (It replace cursors files seen in programs like Wordpad and Internet Explorer.)

This is not really an error, but it looks strange:

All folder icons in Microsoft Management Consoles (such as the computer management) show a folder with its back pointing downwards like it was in XP. For example if you compare the "shared folders" icon (view --> large icons) in computer management with the shared folders icon in Windows Explorer, you'll see two different icons (see attachement).

The one on the left is taken from the computer management (mmc) and the other one on the right is from the ressource file shell32.dll

Any update on when a beta of Sevenize might be released? The collaboration with the Windows 7 Taskforce could finally resolve many issues. I'm hoping that between this, DisplayFusion, and the FastPictureViewer codec pack many of my windows woes will be fixed (now if anyone can give me a copy of the "Softsled" project for Windows Media Center then they'd all be fixed!)

I replaced some dll with Vize 2 and run a scan with Malwarebytes, it found Write.exe in C/Windows/System32 as trojan.fakems, is it a virus or a false positive?

I'm feeling very disappointed in myself for a: not keeping you guys informed, and b: not devoting enough time to the project.

Here's my current situation. It's just words and promises, but I hope you can trust and believe in me that you will see something eventually:
* From now until next week I have to devote my life to writing my undergraduate project dissertation.
* Immediately after that I need to study and revise for my final undergraduate examinations, the actual exams run from mid-May to mid-June.
* After late-June I will be a free man. Beautiful sweet freedom I haven't felt since I finished High School. I have a great many proejcts to work on

If you google "trojan.fakems" you'll see that Malwarebytes frequently incorrectly identifies files as that malware.

There isn't much documentation about "trojan.fakems", so my guess is that Malwarebytes flags any system file that purports to be from Microsoft but doesn't match a "known" file, in this case xpize'd Windows files are no-longer identical to the files they should be.
On the other hand, this is the first time I've heard of this problem. It's quite possible you really are infected with malware. I personally recommend Microsoft Security Essentials over all other forms of AV (especially Norton), give it a try and see if it reports anything. It also might be worth uploading the file to various free online file scanner services (Kaspersky has one).

IE9 already has Windows 7-styling, though there are still a few errant resources lying around (like the 'enable autocomplete' animation).

IE9 has a hidden 'large buttons' mode, so I'm thinking of exposing that as an option in a possible xpize settings application.

In effect I scanned the file with VirusTotal and Jotti Online malware scan and result 0 malware, it confirmed that's a false positive.
Thanks.
