I don't think there are any mistakes on your side ;) The point about Update Rollup 2 is that it is going to include only official and public updates. It means that HBRs (hotfixes by request, yellow background at bristols' page) are not going to be included. Update Rollup 2 is going to cover mostly updates from Windows Updates list (almost all of them) and a few other updates.

You use HBRs and that's why you have more than 200 updates on your list as there are more than 120 HBRs available. You can find more detailed info about UR2 here. And yes, update rollup is like a BIG hotfix. Its structure is exactly the same as a single update, just more files and registry entries are installed, and of course it can be integrated using HFSLIP or nLite. IE / OE Mini Rollup is such a thing - 7 (9 in ver. 1.1) updates are merged into one, and the official Update Rollup 1 is also a perfect example.

Here is the list of updates which I want to include in UR2. Of course it's for the English version.

Spoiler

* you don't have to upload these three

It would be good if you could zip them and upload somewhere, ex. MediaFire :)

Also if anyone elso is interested in having other language version too, just provide me with such a pack of updates and I'll be able to make it very easily.

The entry SCRIPTEN.CAB (IE6sp1 component, the ita cab is named SCRIPTIT.CAB) is stated as `Script 5.6'. The issue is I am slipstreaming just Script 5.7 components/updates and there are several warnings about mixing different versions.
So, if I just want Script 5.7, can I skip SCRIPTEN(SCRIPTIT).CAB?

I know it's an old post ;) but yes, you can skip scriptXX.cab from IE6 if you slipstream Script 5.7. You can also skip OE6 .cabs if you don't want it (MAILNEWS.CAB, OEEXCEP.CAB, WAB.CAB). All these three components (IE6, OE6, Script 5.6) are slipstreamed separately.

MS09-044 adds a *** note re KB958471 and KB958470

958470 (for RDP 5.0, 5.1, and 5.2) is the 1.5 meg patch that Inki reduced to a reg file setting 3 ActiveX killbits in the registry.

The note says that "Users of RDP Version 5.0 on Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 must install both KB958471 and KB958470." KB958471 is not on the list.

How does a user tell which version of RDP he has ... if he has 5.0, should 958471 be on the list? or maybe just add a few words to the note for 958470? kb985470 applies to RDP 5.0, 5.1, 5.2

Confuses me too. If tomasz86 has the time, maybe create a unofficial fix with both files including the reg file as an updated version of rdp.

KB958471 updates only the files related to MSTSC. It doesn't add anything to the registry.

I'm actually thinking about adding the whole new RDP (KB958471 & KB958470) to UR2, not just the registry fixes. What do you think about it?

To check version of RDP you may try checking the file "mstsc.exe".

If you do decide this, can you still make a combined installer, because these files work on Win98SE too and is newer
than the files from MSRDPCLI.EXE? Then maybe someone can re-create the installer to work on 98SE. Thank you very much.

P.S

Do you think its possible to repackage files like
WINDOWS2000-KB816868-X86-ENU.EXE
WINDOWS2000-KB896414-X86-ENU.EXE
WINDOWS2000-KB942831-X86-ENU.EXE
so that they are use in the HF folder instead of the HFSVCPACK_SW1?

For 2-3 days I've been getting this message when trying to download any HBR from M$ site:

Posted Image

Could anyone confirm? Is the system really down? Has anyone got any more information about it?

I'm getting the same message, indeed for all hotfixes (not just those for Windows 2000). Hmmm. :}

Same problem here, I've been getting this message since, I think, at least late Friday night. That's a little reassuring about XP too, I was afraid they were pulling down the W2K stuff.

Thank you for confirmation... I hope they aren't "reorganizing" (=removing) the HBRs for older systems :}

Fortunately I've got most of the 2K hotfixes on my HDD, but only their English version.

Here's some hotfixes not listed at your site.

KB833154
KB829395
KB819249
KB817446

@ tomasz86

Do your WINDOWS2000-MSRDP7-X86-ENU.EXE supersede WINDOWS2000-KB899591-X86-ENU.EXE?

Thanks...

Here's some hotfixes not listed at your site.

But:

- 833154 is replaced by 839429.
- 819249 is already listed.
- 817446 is replaced by 841029.

However:

- 829395 does seem to have the latest Winsta.dll - 5.0.2195.6824. Thank you. :thumbup

829395 appears to be a Windows 2000 Server-only update. Could any Server users please confirm that this is the latest build of Winsta.dll?

Whoops... The KB Article for 829395 is wrong. The update has Winsta.dll 5.0.2195.6701. It's not new.

I should have learned by now not to trust MS KB articles...

No problem...

These HBRs are really sneaky

PROBLEMCHYLD,

That RDP 7 is broken. I think I wrote about it on the RyanVM board... It opens but you can't connect anywhere because nothing happens when clicking on the button. Does it work for you??

I removed it from the list of updates some time ago.

WINDOWS2000-KB2506212-X86-ENU.EXE

@PROBLEMCHYLD: You should remove this patch from your list because Microsoft discovered some flaws with the mfc42.dll & mfc42u.dll files from the KB2506212 security update mentioned in MS KB article 2584577.

You may want to create an unofficial KB2584577 patch for Win2000 when you get the chance.
