granted I used nlited yumeyao addon for IE8
but I guess this happens even with normall install
my IE has +SH attributes set and even under admin account I can't remove them
CMD gives error: "not reseting system file" whenever I try -s or -h
question: why is it set like that at all ?

Do you mean that the iexplore.exe file is hidden and system?
That's certainly not normal, as no attributes are set on that file on my system.
Is it read only too? If that is the case that may be why you can't re-set it.
If all else fails try using the attrib command using the Recovery Console if you have your XP install disk.
