From free software and iPads to tiny URLs galore, this forum sidebar seems to be an easy advertising target for spammers. I'm not saying we should get rid of it, but disabling the use of links in the sidebar seems to be prudent.

The last seven consecutive status updates are obviously from spammers.

It is currently a topic of discussion for sure. We may not do anything until the next forum update comes out. But for now we just have to monitor it for anything too far out there.

The reason you are seeing this is because users have tied their Twitter account to their MSFN account. So after you enable this, when you tweet, it will show up in the Status update. I haven't done it myself yet, and I don't see a reason to.

I definately check them out, but if anyone sees something that is not technology related OR is an obvious rule violation (warez, pages to sell things, offensive or pornography, etc) definately let one of us know. Currently I don't think you can report a status update like a post, so either make a post here or send a PM. We do have the ability to remove status updates if needed.

My suggestion would be to disallow this 'feature' for those who have not/do not participate in the forums proper. Maybe a post count limitation.

Right! A post count limitation, set to at least 10 posts should solve it... way to go! :thumbup

Post count limitation hasn't been implemented yet, as with most things it requires discussion, followed by agreement prior to implementation.
