OK, so right now I have an FTP server running with 10 ports open for PASV mode... My question is, is it bad to have too many ports open? And is PASV mode necessary? :)

10 is fine for PASV, I have the same setting for the FTP Server (10 Ports for 10 outside connections). Put the 10 ports somewhere a lot higher in the 10 thousand range, something like 45000-45010
