It looks like they didn't pay for their hosting. Maybe the site moved somewhere?

They nuked our site because we violated the TOS somehow. They won't explain the violation :/ It was actually just a free hosting so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Oldboy had the database backups for every month so we didn't lose much. When we find some hosting a bit better we'll get it back up.

Thanks for letting us know :(

I hope you're back in a short time. There was a lot of useful information at your forum.

Is there somewhere we can donate? win2kgaming should have its own url and proper paid hosting. Hosting can be so cheap these days, there are plenty of $1/month hosts in the US.

As a sidenote, I noticed in the OS list when registering, it listed:
Windows 2000 x64 Datacenter

Seconded! That site was a godsend!

...

Could it be hosted here as a subforum of the 2k forum...?

One of the admins of the site left this thread on other forum with the explanations and download links (or where to find them):

http://www.techspot....opic167843.html

I hope they find a new host soon.

Yes, gone again.

The saddest thing is that I recommended a free site to avoid this and forget to pay for a domain name (because that happened this time, the domain name has expired, at least the first days), dhost.info, that I'm using from a few years now for a forum/page, without problems.... :-/ (the only requirement is to have one visit a week).

And the worst is that I don't get why archive.org don't crawls and archive it either :-? We are now without backup or anything but this thread and the one I posted a year back.

Let's hope it comes back soon :-/

I also use a free hosting (http://www.000webhost.com/) for my website and haven't experienced any problems with it. I don't think that it's worth paying for hosting in case of such a specialised website with <100 visitors daily (it's around 80 visits a day for my site and I doubt that more people visited win2kgaming).

Hey sorry all it's taken me so long to get to this. I haven't done much work in win2k compatibility stuff recently but I know a lot of people contributed useful information to the win2kgaming forums so I will get it back up somewhere. Oldboy2k made regular backups of the forums, but we are not sure where the best place to put it is. We had lots of trouble with 000webhost before and I think the other domain is taken now.

I've also just switched from 000webhost to Zymic and can't recommend the former any more. Zymic (*.zxq.net) was used by bristols when he was responsible for the Win2K Updates List and Mim0 uses it too for his updates list for WinXP.

There's a difference though, which is that all of those are just simple websites while here we're talking about a discussion forum which is probably more complicated, although I don't really know whether it matters or not.

And if you want a simple domain name, then http://www.dot.tk is free ;)

No news anywhere, but the site is up again.

I found yesterday by luck while, when I was reinstalling win2k because of motherboard change, I searched for the wrappers stuff I didn't remember and Google brought to me this URL:

http://win2kgaming.prophpbb.com/
