Does anyone know if you can find a list of MS hotfixes listed by OS and SP but not those listed by windows update ?
I did search but didn't found anything up to date.
I am mostly interested in XP, 2003, 2008, 2008R2 and seven.

Do you mean HBRs (hotfixes by request)?

I haven't seen any lists for other systems except for the list on bristols for 2K. Many of them are also available for other NT5.x systems (you choose the OS before downloading).

Yes i meant hotfixes by request (or not as not all fixes all available through windows update or wsus).
I managed to compile almost automatically a hotfixes list for windows 2003 ( a lot with a low numbers might in fact not be hotfixes). I'll take time to read each one and remove it from the list if it doesn't contains any real fix that i can slipstream.

what method did you use to list all these hotfixes? Could it be used for finding hotfixes for ther M$ OSes too?

One advice - don't rely on the description as file versions are often listed wrongly (especially in case of HBRs). To be sure you have to download and unpack the hotfix.

The method is pretty bad actually: listing all kb containing the word hotfix for the os windows 2003 in the MS kb search tool then removing from the list all that are already in the a service pack. So of course it would work for another os but it already take a lot of time. I'll see when i finished sorting the windows 2003 list for the other os (xp will be next most likely).

Your list is quite out of date IMO (no KB2XXXXXX articles).

I keep lists for 2003 and XP of latest KBs. The only criterium is: The hotfix with the highest version number of a particular file (mostly .dlls/.exes) wins and replaces any other. I make no difference between official and unnoficial (by request) hotfixes. I use them for years and never had any problems. Once or twice I offered to make update lists, but nobody was interested.

I have compiled them from various sources (any one I can find, actually), download, unpack and check version. It can be regarded as "highest version hunt". :blushing:

Again I offer to make a list for anyone interested, nothing fancy, only KB number with (non-comprehensive) dll/exe/xxx name attached to it. Also, some obscure (for my needs) components (IIS etc.) might be missing.

There are some kb2xxxxx in my list and i only want the HBR (getting the post sp2 hotfixes already available from windows update aren't needed IMO).
Of course if Microsoft search tool didn't report some hotfix i could have missed some.
Anyway, you can still post you kb list numbers as i could remove from your list all non HBR.

I meant with 7 digits (they switched some time ago, probably when they realized they'll run out of numbers). So, the latest were missing?

I updated the list removing all itanium specific KB and some KB for other components like IE, media player, SFU and SQLserver. Also removed replaced KB when stated by MS.
There are still a lot removable KBs if i only filter with file version.

@GrofLuigi: Your 2K3 list is interesting as it contains at least about 100 HF that doesn't seems to be security fixes and were not in mine.
Microsoft might limit the search to a max number as i only got 1000 Kb when i did the search (and i though it was coincidence).

Ok i made another search and found out that MS search engine doesn't report all results even if the number is low (and if you have the right search terms).
I guess, i'll try the backup plan as this search engine doesn't work at all and MS doesn't seem provide any HBR list : backup the entire MS KB by getting all KB number. I set up a nix script to get all existing article and to pause 1 second between each http request. It will most likely take more than one month if i my ip isn't blacklisted before.

MS KB Articles Wierd (they replace some of the content with their own).

Microsoft Files Great potential, but underdeveloped.

That's the conclusion I came to years ago. All that GDR QFE LDR talk aside, I am pretty sure that, in practice, the file with the highest version number incorporates the fixes from the previous versions. Of course, there might be exceptions, but I think they are in the minority.

So it makes no sense too keep older KBs.

Ok, i've gotten 7.1GB of MS KB articles (131700) and there is till a long way to finish. But i would like to be ready when the extracting will be done. So does someone know a good tool that can analyze html and store in database the useful information (the reverse of for example php/mysql that recreate web pages using template) ?

it's a rollup specifically for Win2000's COM/OLE components. KB922667 is a must have for anyone using Win2000 in today's computing world.
MDGx has a copy of it on his web site.

wow. I know at least one of the XP hotfixes can't be normally obtained by usual email/phone methods. that one would be 977073 as that one requires a paid custom support agreement with Microsoft. there was some talk about how to obtain 977073 here in thehotfixshare forums but it's very hard to get it.
