Experimental Firefox 7 build for Windows 98

Recommended Posts

  • 2 weeks later...

I wish I would have seen this post earlier in the day, Was working on my friend's old 98 box. I had FF 4 up and running, although very poorly. I noticed in the options that there was a checkbox that could be used to disable use of hardware acceleration. Are there any build options to disable it completely? If so, that might take care of the need for the DirectX SDK.

Updated to Firefox 6, see first post for details ;)

I think I've found the reason for this bug. Expect some information in the next few days on KernelEx' bugtracker. I don't have that much time at the moment, sorry. Short version: UnlockFileEx unimplemented(easy to fix), region locks affect file mappings to everyone, even the creator(in case anyone wants to take a look at it).

I haven't looked at the bookmark and history issues yet, but I can absolutely confirm them.

Maybe there will be also a Seamonkey 2.2 build for 9x soon if no unexpected problems show up.

Kudos from the peanut gallery...

Just took this for a test drive and was kind of amazed!

It successfully grabbed all my Firefox 3.xx add-ons and

offered to update as needed.

Did you manage to import the FF bookmarks?

Hmmm, so it looks like that add-on has helped with saving your bookmarks, interesting, thanks for that.

I was writing this Post with Aurora 6.0. It runs as good as 5.0 for me with the known issues. Thanks

:thumbup

Me too :hello:

but , the bookmarks doesn't work

bookmark is empty; I can't bookmark any webpage ; import doesn't work

I just can setup a bookmark saved in HTML as Firefox start page

trevor89, you mentioned GoodOldFavorites extension, did you mean PlainOldFavorites? I found that this lets me use IE's favorites even adding links. Think this is what I'm going to set up as a work around until the bookmarks problem is fixed.

Edit: This gets even better!

The menu editor lets me remove 'Bookmarks' from the menu bar.
