nLite hotfixes problem with WinXP SP3

Yo! Here I am again. About that ActiveX.

ActiveX is slipstreamed in Windows but IE notifies me that I have to install latest ActiveX Component.

Which ActiveX?

Look at those two in software section. I've told you before about them, but you didn't answer. They are still in Windows Update.

KB971513

KB2492386

Maybe you've missed them...

I've looked everywhere (few AIO packs for WinXP post SP3 hotfixes and updates) all of them have those two.

If you read my page you will note that I say I only do high-priority updates. KB971513 and KB2492386 are under Software, Optional.

ActiveX in your pack. After Windows installation and update check, IE asks me to install ActiveX component.

Whats the point of activeX in your update pack if IE doesn't recognize it?

High priority updates? IE, ActiveX, MSRT are software but you still have them in your update pack.

Maybe I'm wrong....but....OK.

Thank you for your answers.

It worked fine the last time I checked. I'll have to see what has changed.

IE8 and MSRT are high-priority. ;)

If you notice, WindowsUpdateAgent7.4.7600.226.cab is in a seperate table labeled Needed for Windows Update.

Yo! I've downloaded your update pack few days ago and slip everything into Windows XP.

One of the updates in your pack isn't successfully integrated into Windows. Microsoft reports that this update KBxxxxxx is still available.

Check it out.

That is a weird update. It slipstreams but also runs from SVCPACK folder. It adds a new file to XP that could be troublesome (uiautomationcore.dll)...doesn't conform to the 8.3 filenames.

Can you check the i386\SVCPACK folder and see if it's there as KB2564958.exe? I presume it will also be in add or remove programs. Can you check there too?

That file is present in i386/SVCPACK folder.

File was not present in Add or Remove progs.

Maybe you should pack it in that .CAB archive? I don't know.

That image you show only shows the catalog file, not the executable. The fact that it wasn't in add or remove programs confirms that it wasn't run via svcpack.

Therein lies the problem. For some reason, nLite did not use an /integrate switch for you. It did for me when tried to slipstream it....

KB2564958.png

SVCPACK.IN_ ...

[Version]
BuildNumber=2600
MinorVersion=1
MajorVersion=5
Signature="$WINDOWS NT$"

[SetupData]
CatalogSubDir="\I386\svcpack"

[ProductCatalogsToInstall]
KB2564958.cat

[SetupHotfixesToRun]
kb2564958.exe /q /n /z /o

[CatalogHeader]

; Customized by nLite - www.nliteos.com

I will do a full test run whenever I get some energy to do it.

That is the file reported in an other thread.

I tried the script yesterday and it clearly says it missed the file (-X- says he will update the script, I don't know if it's been done yet, that's why I did not report that error).

"Failed to download WindowsXP-en-US-KB2564958.exe" , should download WindowsXP-KB2564958-x86-ENU.exe instead.

OK, I just did a full test run and Windows Update was clean except for IE8 (which I chose not to install) and MSRT (they changed something last month and I'm probably going to have to include the binaries from now on)

KB2564958 worked perfect! It was in add or remove programs and svcpack folder.

Also, I didn't see where....

I don't know why!

...caused any problems.

The Windows Update Engine and WGAV ActiveX did not need to be installed.
