I recently got Quake, installed QuakeWorld, it doesn't work properly and it crashes on exit. Computer specs are in my second post.

Are you running QuakeWorld?

I was surprised to learn that there are still servers up for that game.

I figured out the problem, I DID need Quakeworld, but now there's a new problem, Quakeworld crashes either on start of a game OR when you attempt to exit, it hangs with nothing happening, even Control+Alt+Delete doesn't work. :/

Using Windows 98 w/KernelEx disabled, DirectX8.1 (downgraded from 9.0c), Nvidia Geforce4 Ti 4600, SoundBlaster Live CT4780.

You can try to "get out" of the window by using ALT+ENTER which I "believe" will change Quake into Windowed mode. You can try ALT+F4. As far as your specs (and even QuakeWorld) I don't have any experience in that. I had only used GL WinQuake with the 3dfx patch. I haven't played it since those good old days, except for running it on a Notebook to test a specific Open GL version on Vista.

Apparently I discovered that Quakeworld isn't compatible with Windows 98, only with Win95 and NT4. KernelEx doesn't help either.

Thanks for responding anyways.

Ah, well there are (were) a bunch of different ways to run Quake in Win98. Besides WinQuake, GLQuake, (or the DOS version) and I'm thinking there was a Quake98 also.
