Dim-Trij
I spent almost one month with reading this forum and trying to make custom lighted version Windows 7 x64. There are a lot of threads and topics about this problems but guides and advices are often incomplete, wrong and nonfunctional in my case. And what is more a lot of these guides using vLite and 3 different version of WAIK because vLite is old and crappy peace of software now. Also there are tons of customized .bat and .inf files and it seems to me that everybody has to have his own original procedure of setup. Well shortly chaos... So I would like very briefly describe easy method how one can make EASY fully functional updated and streamlined version of Windows 7 x64.What you will need:RT Se7en Litehttp://www.rt7lite.com/Windows 7 Toolkit http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?/files/file/5-windows-7-toolkit/Rt7-Booster (WinterStorm 2050)http://www.rtwincustomize.net/web/index.php?/topic/8953-rt7-booster/ Untouched MS Windows 7 - en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x64_dvd_u_677332.isoSoLoR Updates -- or Microsoft Update CatalogConfiguration file for RT7 Litehttp://www.rtwincustomize.net/web/index.php?/topic/7146-components-to-keep/1. Use RT Se7en Lite to ONLY integrate SoLoR Updates2. Run Windows 7 Toolkit and choose Component Removal (DISM procedure) and delete packages(I deleted all packages except red ones=critical, local printer service and .net 3.5.1; name and description of packages is (in Windows 7 Toolkit) sufficient to decide individually) 3. Start RT Se7en Lite with Configuration file for RT7 Lite and add your additional tweaks etc.4. Use Rt7-Booster and select only modules which correspond with removed components from step 3; in the case of untouched Configuration file for RT7 Lite you should use all modules(you can also integrate IE 9 and delete content of WinSxs folder here)5. Your lighted Win 7 x64 are finished. Final ISO file should has 1.3-1.8 GB according to used updates and removed componentsActually I removed some additional components (in comparsion with default Configuration file for RT7 Lite) according to WinterStorm 2050 guide and I have fully functional Win 7 for games, wifi and cable Internet and also for work. I have found out only two problems. It is not possible to install Rosetta Stone software because it depends on running Windows Firewall service (during installation only). And also if you completely remove Windows Media Player and codecs (with Windows 7 Toolkit) it would not be possible to install some programs required WMP. Usually some encyclopedias or learning software. So be there careful. You can still run such a software in a virtual machine. You can get down some more MBs deleting unnecessary files while Windows is mounted. Just find this file somewhere at this forum "batch7x64sp1.bat" :-). Edited November 7, 2011 by Tripredacus removed hotfix link
Tripredacus
SoLoR Updates 1. Use RT Se7en Lite to integrate ONLY SoLoR UpdatesWhat's so special about these? Why not get them from the Catalog site?
Dim-Trij
2Tripredacus: My mistake. No matter which is the source of updates but do integrate them first and then start removing components. I have modified your post.Sorry if it is against your rules but it is funny anyway because linked programs are as much illegal because they break license of Windows OS :-).
