Not sure where to post this...
Just installed an XFX GT520 card on my Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 w/ 2GB RAM and 320GB HDD, 500W PSU
XP SP3, everything updated and latest Nvidia drivers
Now I'm getting lots of "Delay write failed" / "Drive controller" and "Pariry" errors on Drive D (My HDD is partitioned into C and D) in Event Viewer
Especially after trying to play a game or watch videos

Wondering if the below stated may have anything to do with it -
My "conflicting devices" list via running MSINFO32, here's what I have (I disabled the HDMI aka HD Audio port on the XFX card - no use for it):

This takes me back to Win98 days, all these conflicts! Yet going into each device's properties in Device Manager, XP states "everything is ok"
So far, I've tried reinstalling all of these devices listed in the above list except the XFX and they still install right back to the same memory space / IRQ

Ok so I guess I'll buy an add-in SATA controller card
Don't need RAID, just internal connectors
Suggestions? Under $50 would be great

I would suspect the ATA cable.

It's a SATA-based system, sorry if I didn't make that clear
I'm using Western Digital cables (don't think they're sold anymore), so I think they're quality
I guess I can try swapping for the ones that came with my Gigabyte board....

Note that your motherboard isn't PCI-E 2.x so it could be that the GT520 you bought isn't 100% backwards compatible. Since the PCI-E lanes are divided over several peripherals, and so also the SATA controller as I recall, and the video card doesn't like to be on a non PCI-E 2.x, it could mess up things badly. First I thought the videocard was pulling too much juice from the motherboard but the GF520 is a low power consumption card made for HTPC/multimedia.

So, if updating drivers don't work, look for a HD6450 or so for 40USD as ATI seems to have less problems with a non PCI-E 2.x mobo.

Tried the new chipset drivers, they wouldn't even update via device manager but it now seems the issue may be what you're saying puntoMX.
I wasn't aware of the new Rev 2.x PCI-e (go figure, my luck).
I'm not much of a gamer anymore, I upgraded to the 520 from a GeForce 8500GT for low power/etc. like you stated.
Looks like my options are slim to none for finding a low power x16 card to replace the 8500GT...
I guess I'm gonna have to upgrade my mobo then.

I would not do that so fast!

- Try to flash the BIOS first
- Try the other PCI-E slot
- Try to clean up older drivers with a drivercleaner

and last option:

- Buy a cheap HD6450, like the http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814125377 (plays even some older games like left4dead2 at 1920*1080 at an acceptable framerate

I would not swap the mobo, it was one of the best, if not the best back then!

Yes I do. a PCI-E 2.1 card should be backwards compatible but I'm blaming your new GF520 for not being, or being defective.

"P35-DQ6 was old chipset board with PCIE 1.0 x16 slot, PCIE 2.0 card is not compatible with motherboard, please using any PCIE 1.0 card with mother board.
