Step#5
Download xRayeR Fix to C:\
Reboot using "F8" Keyboard Key
Select "Safe Mode COMMAND PROMPT ONLY" <-- NOT JUST SAFE MODE
Enter command -
C:\W98IOPAT.EXE
-OR-
Use Hex Editor
while Normal Boot to change INSTEAD. In English Fix (from Step#5) using a Hex Editor I find "HIMEM.SYS" at Hex Offset A4F4.
Here is Trial Hex Workshop. Find and Download "Hex Workshop v5.14" (last one that works with Windows 98SE).
Any Hex Editor that works on Win98SE is OK.
In addition Enter command -
C: \ W98IOPAT.EXE ...... Y

IO.SYS open [OK]

Searching for HIMEM.SYS string ... [not found]

The second sentence above, is how can the problem? Do you have met before?
USE HEX EDITOR!!!!

Quote

But why in the system, only to see 1022.0MB RAM?
Win98SE will NEVER "see" more and CANNOT use ANY MORE THAN (CANNOT CHANGE THAT!)

Quote

Ask questions: RAM 1G or more, high stability of the system do?
On Windows 98 SE or in the window into the system easy to use in unstable? Some message window!!
Close the folder or another program, move the file information, could this be? Appear Explorer message, the problem is unknown ....
You MUST be using a LARGE program somewhere! WIN98SE HAS LIMITS! CANNOT FIX ALL!!! READ ALL BLUE THREAD LINKS IN THIS!!!

NO MAGIC BULLETS TO MAKE EVERYTHING BIGGER!!!! WE HAVE NOT Win98SE SOURCE CODE!!!

Quote

Step#7 (NEW STEP)
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.CB <--- SEE WHERE IS???
And I SEE you have posted in OTHER THREAD - YOU NOW HAVE MANY ANSWERS!!!!

READ READ READ ALL LINKS IN LINK GIVEN ABOVE! Then you KNOW ALL!!!!

Normal and Safe mode can over 1.5G, run into! Need several tests, the stability!

But why in the system, only to see 1022.0MB RAM?
Because I set MaxPhysPage=40000 in system.cb
You can edit it to be MaxPhysPage=48000 and it'll see more RAM
YOU USE MY SETTINGS FROM OTHER THREAD! DENCORSO AND ALL SAY MAXIMUM STABLE IS ABOVE NUMBER! SET SAME IN "SYSTEM.INI" - BOTH PLACES!!! As I said in other thread Win98 has MAX RAM CAN USE AND CANNOT BE FIXED WE HAVE NO SOURCE CODE!

(tired.....)

???? Now you throw Grub4DOS in to RAM solution??? MAKE A NEW THREAD - Grub4DOS is NOT to do with RAM!!! Make new thread in Windows 98 Forum and give ALL DETAILS OF WHAT YOU DO (where INSTALL Grub? MBR? Partition? WHERE? HOW?)!!! YOU MAKE NEW CHANGES BEFORE TEST RAM FIXES!

(yes, VERY tired...)

Without my Patch, Windows 98 cannot recognize more than approx. 1.15GB of RAM. If it recognizes more than 1.15GB of RAM it will crash.
Setting MaxPhysPage limits what Windows recognizes. You will need my Patch if you want to be able to actually use more than 1.15GB of RAM.

Not true. I have a Patch that allows Windows 98SE to see up to 4GB of RAM and use all of it.
The workarounds in this thread ARE limited to 1.15GB of useable RAM.

Does your Windows 95/98/SE/ME RAM Limitation Patch, is a complete free version? Or watched other versions?

http://rloew.x10host...rams/Patchm.htm

Current settings

Adjust MaxPhysPage = 40000 to 48000

From 1022.0MB to 1152.0MB

SYSTEM.INI

[386Enh]
MaxPhysPage = 48000

[vcache]
MaxFileCache = 524288

CONFIG.SYS

device = c: \ windows \ himem.exe / numhandles = 64 / verbose

REM device = himem.sys

SYSTEM.CB

[386Enh]
MaxPhysPage = 48000

[vcache]
MaxFileCache = 524288

Normal operation of the above settings

Another question, do not know is set to generate it?

ERROR: An Extended Memory Manager is already installed.

XMS Driver not installed.

How to solve ~ please?

Can only be set to "MaxPhysPage = 48000" is MAXIMUM GOOD VALUE!

System displays 1152.0MB RAM

Can not display the full current RAM it?

The Patch is complete. It is not free, the price is stated on the web page you linked.
With the Patch, CONFIG.SYS, SYSTEM.INI and SYSTEM.CB do NOT need any modifications for Normal Mode or Safe Mode.
Windows will then report the full amount of RAM.

You see: machine translators are no good. I don't know Chinese language.
But you dont know English language. We are even! :D

Impossible display / Impossible use / full capacity.
What part of "impossible" did you not understand?
Impossible.
Cannot be done.
Even Bill Gates cannot do it. :yes:

config.dos...?

There is an unrecognized command in your config.sys file.

There is an error in your config.sys file on line?

I thought for a moment.

Initially only for Windows 98 SE to 2G of memory set, forget that there DOS 6.22 set

Also set config.dos .....

I restored the system, re-set, everything is normal, such as pictures .....

Adding HIMEMX.EXE to C:\DOS, and then renaming it to HIMEM.EXE

config.dos

DEVICE=C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE
DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.EXE /NUMHANDLES=64 /VERBOSE
rem DEVICE=HIMEM.SYS
rem DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
DOS=HIGH
FILES=30
rem DEVICEHIGH=\DRIVERS\QDMA.SYS
DEVICEHIGH=\DRIVERS\VIDE-CDD.SYS /D:IDE-CD
LASTDRIVE=Z

Thank you friends to help solve the problem

Already told you that...

No Magic Bullets to make everything BIGGER!!!! We have NOT Win98SE Source Code!!!
Live with it and be happy...

Also, see THIS for another good change. Read all of thread - Patch also by "rloew" - fixes "False HDD Appears" when certain Partition Definitions.

Please open new threads for help next time or stay in one thread . This clutters many good threads. Also, do not ask "please give me file" - change yours by instructions.

P.S. If not part of problem, start new - example - "Problem XP and Win98 Boot" is new for you. Also use 'Search" above (little "gear" icon at top right) first.

Old Saying - "Gods Help Those That Help Themselves."

Peace!
