hello
win 64 needs to install programs in seperate folder, depending on wether they are 32bit or 64bit programs (which is dumb if you ask me)
anyways, what about portable programs that are not inside any of those default "program files" folders? is there any problem with them, if they are 32bit or 64bit?
thanks

Not dumb... 32-bit Apps on an x64 OS will not address any greater than (2^32)-1 bytes of memory (as I remember the calculation) and 64-bit raises the bar, hence the "segregation". As far as "stand-alones" (portables), have you tried the "Compatibility Mode" trick (right-click it)?

you can install the programs or copy the portable tools wherever you want. It is only implemented to install 2 versions of the same tool (IE, WMP and 3 rd party tools which are 32 and 64Bit).
