The WAIK for Windows 7 is the latest, even though it was released in 2009. The link is here:
http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=5753

There was no update to the WAIK for Windows 7 SP1.

You can download here:
The Windows® Automated Installation Kit (AIK) for Windows® 7: http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=5753

The Windows® Automated Installation Kit (AIK) Supplement for Windows® 7 SP1: http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=5188

Quote

Windows® Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) 3.1 is being released as an Windows Automated Installation Kit (Windows AIK) supplement for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Windows PE 3.1 includes all optional components and language packs. You can apply these optional components and language packs to customize the boot.wim and winre.wim images that are part of the Windows 7 SP1 installation media.

This supplement is optional. If you do not need to modify the SP1 boot.wim and winre.wim files, you can continue to use the Windows 7 RTM tools, including WinPE 3.0, without installing this supplement. You can obtain the Windows® Automated Installation Kit (Windows AIK) that was released with Windows 7 RTM

the ADK is the replacement of the WAIK and the new DISM has new features:

If WAIK only provides the plugin/addon to play with .WIM files, why in the world is it 1.3 gigs of a download, since the windows image and the service pack files are quite large themselves!

Nu-uh.... more than just that, but also includes that... Wiki.
To get "just that" you need the whole thing to extract those items. Jaclaz (here on MSFN) referred to a tool to Mount the ISO Image remotely to allow for getting "just that" (to avoid the complete download), but don't have the Topic/Post logged, so you just need to "search".

HTH...
