Hi,
Newbie here.
With much relief after successfully doing a clean install of WXP (home) to the level of SP3 I thought it would be a good idea to make an nLite .iso bootable disk straight after.
Now the time has come to use that disk as I seem to have managed to disable Task Manager and no short solutions have helped.

The guide for nLite was fine for creating my bootable .iso disk was fine, but I cannot find a guide for or information about what to expect when I use the disk and I am fearful of messing up my existing system which is ok with the exception of no Task manager. It is not running slowly.
Would someone please give brief guidance (as if explaining to a 9-year-old child ) .

Before you do anything, see if your task manager is disabled via a group policy setting. Click Start > Run > type taskmgr > Press OK or enter.

If you get a message saying "Task Manager has been disabled by your Administrator", we would need to clear that setting and check for malware.

I tried Click Start > Run > type taskmgr > Press OK or enter and I get a pop-up "The specified path does not exist ... check the path then try again".
Since I became aware that taskmanager was broken I have run several scans with AVG (including the very latest version) and AVG anti- rootkit scans and it finds no problems.

Did you put the word type in the run box? You shouldn't.

If you didn't, stick your Windows CD in the drive and then click Start > Run > type cmd > Press OK or enter. In the command window type...

expand D:\i386\TASKMGR.EX_ C:\windows\system32

presuming that D is the drive letter of your CD-ROM and C:\Windows is where your Windows directory is.

Exactly the same as when you use the original disk you used for the process, except the modifications you specifically brought to it in nLite.
I'm not sure about what info you ask for.
