Upgrading from XP to 7 using USB

I am trying to upgrade to Windows 7 because there are various programs that I would like to use but I am unable to because I am running on a 32 bit operating system, and quite frankly, the OS is outdated and it is time for an upgrade anyway.

But I can't afford to buy the operating system at the moment so I downloaded an ISO file and I am trying to create a bootable USB, but the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool won't work, it copies all of the files to the drive but it can't make it bootable because bootsect.exe is not a valid Windows XP application.

So the question I'm asking is does anyone know of another way to make the USB drive bootable? I tried a program called WinSetupFromUSB but it stops me before the installation process starts and prompts me to browse for drivers, and I haven't been able to solve this problem yet, if anyone knows what is wrong here and how I can fix it I'd appreciate it, or is my only option to create the bootable USB on someone else's system?

Maybe you could use a Trial version until you get the money to buy a license for it.

An OS, is not like bread (which in some cases you may be morally justified if you steal some since you can't afford it).

I plan to buy it as soon as I have the money, so I don't consider it stealing, and I don't see how the trial would work any differently for me than this, would I not have the same problems?

While I understand the being poor predicament, it's not an excuse for software piracy. Maybe if you were stealing something like food I might understand, but software, in no cases, is critical for sustaining life. Buy it when you can, and use something you can afford (there are lots of things out there that are free, including operating systems) when you cannot. We don't condone or support software piracy (for any reason), for those who find this thread in the future. We're not the internet or software police, but we will uphold our rules about posting on this site whilst you are here.
