Yeah, now Qualcomm, not sure why I thought Ralink. Anyway, the "WMP54GX-EU_DRUT.zip" INF looks to be split between W5.0- and W5.1+, so it might work, particularly if WdmStub can help. Have you tried WdmCheck?

No, all the links I tried were broken. Can you give me a link? A while ago I downloaded wdmstub.sys file and referenced it in the inf but it didn't help.
Anyway, that zip file is basically the same driver as I already working with; netani.inf, wnihdd50.sys, wnihdd51.sys, and wni6000.bin

Thanks for the link, I used the link and ran wdmcheck. Only one missing function with wnihdd50.sys file: "mmisaddressvalid" . With wnihdd51.sys, the list is longer. Is there a stub for this?

It just so happens I have an Alohabob USB Cable with the "PC Relocator Easy Transfer" v6.x software/drivers (Eisenworld) on CD. It HAS the Win98 USB Files on it! Thrift Store around the corner $0.99 in the box!

In addition, I found THIS which clearly indicates that MS PURCHASED this bad boy and (apparently) continued development and DROPPED Win9x (see link within Drugwash' link)! The original Websites are apparently shut down (since MS bought them out).
edit (followup) - Yep, more info here. I have no clue as to what good it is without corresponding software. Mine is apparently only for 9x/XP...

Any further interest in this, or is it currently irrelevant?

Any kind of driver that still supports Win9x should be distributed and backed up by us 9x users, for we never know what use it could be put to, in time. Could you possibly offer a valid download link for that driver package (and any software application)?

Sadly, I have NO ACCOUNT anywhere. The CD is approx. 377mb and contains a folder called "Goodies" (approx 280mb) which INCLUDES (AFAICT) -
- Adobe Reader v7
- Alternate Installer (Alohabob.exe - 68mb) - contents has a program "PCRACTIVATE.EXE"
--- Google finds Keys (whatever) for older versions
--- Release Notes says "Version 6.2.9.1"

- A folder w/the Win95/NT versions of MSICUU.EXE

"Readme" says "For convenience only". Odd that all of that is ther - must have had a Distribution Agreement.

The BASE CD Install (excluding the Goodies) for the Software has the Driver INF stating "Jungo WinDriver v6.2.2"...

So... what are the Options on this? Seems a shame that this would "disappear" into the ether if I don't make it to Retirement.

The ONLY thing I could possibly do would have to be PRIVATE by "other means"... We're treading on dangerous grounds... ANd I'm REALLY unsure if this would work with other cables. One might "assume" that it would since the Driver seems to be from "jungoDOTcom"...

...and almost wish I hadn't brought it up.

Further info (inspecting the Driver Folder) - Jungo "windrvr6.sys" (google that) appears to be a "generic" USB and ANOTHER "EWUSB.INF" seems to be what the Vendor used.

The SOFTWARE appears to create "xxx.DMV" files that can be "browsed" and specific files extracted (similar to Ghost Explorer). I REALLY don't know how MS (or MSFN) would feel about this since they BOUGHT them out (not Jungo, but the Software).
In addition (inside the Driver folder) are several EXE files - google

wdreg.exe

to see what "they" do.
Zipping the USB folder (JUST the Drivers/EXE's) amounts to 313kb...

Theoretically, the driver should work for any brand and make of cable as long as it uses the respective chipset model (or family) and it may be of use for other devices with same or similar chipsets, unless they're strictly dedicated. There's no harm in trying though.

I've recently set up an account at FileDen.com, since my attachment quota here is way overloaded and I also needed a place to store my toys. You may get an account there, it's not very much user-friendly in terms of manipulating files and they don't allow many file types, but it works and it doesn't expire in time (unless they get brought down or out of business). 7-zip archives are allowed but max file size it's 100MB if I'm not mistaken, so a full ISO wouldn't fit.

Another alternative is to set up a HTTP or FTP server (easy way would be the beta version of HFS by rejetto), get in touch with the peers by PM, instant messaging, e-mail or anything similar and sent them the link to the package. You'll have to keep the server up until they finish grabbing it though. I used to use HFS years ago but since I'm on a GPRS modem, I can't seem to get through, for some reason - hopefully you won't have such issues.

The driver package only, given it's small size, can be sent my mail - just make sure you don't use GMail (as sender or receiver), as they do not allow executables and possibly other files such as DLL, SYS, etc. no matter how packed they are.

If I may, those "controllers" are respectively the Prolific and the Ali one, I think there are (separate) drivers for both.
And seemingly there was also a Microsoft version of the cable driver compatible with win98:

PROBLEMCHYLD, after quite a bit of searching, the closest thing I can find is Windows Easy Transfer (I don't know if it includes drivers), but the earliest version I can find is 6.xx. I wondering if the earlier version were called something else. The binaries I found are named 'tfrcable_x86.exe'. Interesting they used "cable" in the name.

Please bear in mind that "Windows Easy Transfer" XP-and-up version is an offshoot/upgrade to the PURCHASED version. Microsoft killed the below-XP Software (see link I gave above about the "acquisition"). The Software is what utilizes the connections, kind of like the "old-fashioned" "Direct Cable Connect" with Serial/Parallel connections...

Thanks, but I already have it stored. Its only good for downloading ISOs from MSDN. It does not work with other websites besides Microsoft, it does not work with Opera or Firefox. It does use ActiveX which is somewhat good, because a programmer can create a ActiveX plugin, which might make it worth while.

Followup (re - Archive Web Pages) - Real sad! They reference Win9x so they got "tossed". I have the XP pages and will get the EIGHT pages for Win98 (probably good for Win95/ME as well).

THIS is the sad part! It's basically "Local Connections For Dummies" and reinforces ALL of the Sharing Rules that have been repeatedly described but in detail. The only difference (AFAICT) is that it describes "Host" and "Guest" but does go on to describe Bi-directional Connections.

Proceeding to collect Win9x pages... Will post (if no Super/Mod cares) elsewhere.

(Why? It looks like all you need is a bi-directional connection...)

Yeah, someone would need to rebuild 'wdmstub' with this function/stub added ...

WDMEX.VXD is still in development so I haven't advertised it on my Website. The SList Functions can easily be added. I currently do not have any Ndis Functions in it.

I added the Slist Functions.

The Ex versions of the SList functions exist on Windows 98 but are not compatable with the XP Versions. Since the Ex SList functions are used by Windows 98 Drivers, I will not be able to add the XP Versions of them.
