Hi All,

I hope this isnt a silly question but here goes:
We use a 3rd party software to encrypt harddrives (PCGuardian) and would like to use PE as a recovery tool but .. you guessed it.. since the drive is encrypted we cant mount the drive. The manufacturer offers a 16 bit real mode decryption driver that performs on-the-fly decryption. When using DOS disks we just boot from a floppy.. run the decryption driver.. and run NTFSDOS to mount the volume. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this to work but with WinPE? The driver file is an exe (since it requires user intervention to enter a password). I was wondering if maybe it could be loaded when prompted for SCSI drivers (create a custom oemsetup.txt file pointing to the exe perhaps?)
I wasnt sure if the driver would work if we put it in WINBOM.ini or is there another location to point to it?

I have tried simply running it from command line after loading PE but even that says.. and i quote :) " An application has attempted to directly access the hard disk which cannot be supported" .. if I ignore I then get Error reading "001" failed

Whew.. long post.. any help or ideas anyone can suggest is most greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dru

WinPE doesn't support WOW, ie. it doesn't support 16bit exe's. This is atleast to my knowledge. There could be a work around.
