duxdad
I have a Gateway notebook P6318U that usese a Sata driver(SI3531) not included in any version of Windows. Restore DVD not availabe from Gateway. HD died so I have no restore media or partition.I have the driver, and the COA sticker and plan to purchase a copy of Vista on Ebay.A few questions:1 - Can I do this procedure on a Win 7 machine?2 - The WAIK download is an ISO. I assume I make the cd/dvd and install that?3 - Whayt is the correct order to slipstream the driver and SP ?Any other tips ?Thanks
Sp0iLedBrAt
1. Yes.2. Yes; you can also mount the ISO as a virtual CD/DVD and not burn it. Look at Daemon Tools and many others similar to it.3. The correct way? Follow the order in vLite. AFAIK, you can't add a SP to Vista in vLite, so get a SP2 DVD.Cheers
duxdad
Thanks for the reply My main problem is integrating the SATA driver into the install so the install can recognize the HD and complete the installation.. I have no problem doing the SP update by downloading and running. Thanks again
