I have seen a lot of these cheap Bluetooth adapters on eBay and Dealextreme going for extremely cheap prices, but I see the same ones in store at TigerDirect or FS/BB for a lot more.

Is there really any difference between the eBay ones and the store ones? They look exactly the same! Are the ones on eBay garbage compared to store ones? or should I stick to buying the ones from the store?

Depends on what you are connecting with Bluetooth. Some devices like headphones don't like the cheap Bluetooth USB adapters.
Ebay sells a lot of fake stuff and so does DX, check out the ASUS branded ones and you will see how fake they can make it! (yes, stay away from it)

You'll better check something that cost 15USD on newegg and check their reviews ;).
