changes from 2.58 RC to 2.58 final
-updated SECUR32.DLL to 4.10.2228 (domestic US/Canada version instead of Export version)
-updated USP10.DLL to 1.422.3790.4695
-packaged GRPFLT98.EXE with updated graphics filters instead of GRPHFLTS.EXE
(PNG32.FLT v2003.1100.8329.0, JPEGIM32.FLT v2003.1100.8327.0 and
GIFIMP32.FLT v2003.1100.8327.0 are included)
-updated ROOTSUPD.EXE to April 2012 release

changes from 2.57 final to 2.58 RC
-replaced GRPFLT98.EXE with MDGx's GRPHFLTS.EXE package (for the time being)
-updated ROOTSUPD.EXE to March 2012 release
-updated ATL.DLL to 3.0.3794.0 (KB973507 for Win2k - it's an ANSI version)
-updated MSVBVM60.DLL to 6.0.9832 (KB2575928)
-updated DST/Time Zone package (DSTUPD98.EXE) to contain Dec. 2011 updates from KB2633952
-updated Windows Script Host 5.6 to version 5.6.0.8850

the final releases of the Win98fe service pack v2.58 will be delayed until at least sometime in August 2012 as I'm currently working on and testing out some unofficial patches for Win98se, 2000 & ME that I recently made and I won't be discussing about these "unofficial" patches in these forums.

please wait a while longer 'til August for the final releases.

How selfish of you. What if others could use those patches to help their system.
I guess we are all known for something.

relax, PROBLEMCHYLD. it's only a minor thing. no big deal...really.

once things settle down in my heck of the woods, I'll finalize the unofficial win98fe SP in August.
(whoa, Microsoft is supposed to finalize or RTM Windows 8 in early August).

I think I somewhat mis-spoke about this back then. I really meant to say that I won't be discussing about these "unofficial" patches in these forums until after I release win98fe SP 2.58 final (doh!) :blushing:

cool! the final release of 98FE SP 2.58 final is nearly ready. i'll need several days to test it on a win98fe computer. it'll be released sometime between Aug. 15 to Aug. 18 so just wait for an official announcment in this thread.

I'm feeling a little better now since I caught a minor headache this past weekend.
I've now posted links to the final release of the 98fe SP 2.58. see my first post on this topic.

I am planning to make a 3.0 release of the 98 FE/Gold service pack sometime in early 2013.

Is there a way to get a list of what's in the SP 2.58, before downloading? I have a fresh install of Win98FE and would like to apply to it all (and only) official MS updates through July 2006. At some point later, then I might look into upgrading it with newer files.

Which variant is more stable and most updated?
Win 98SE + SESP 3.0 beta 4
or
Win 98FE + UFESP 2.58

Or there is no differences?

more add-ons in the full edition (ex. DirectX, WMI, etc.) than in the lite edition.
