Hello guys, I have 2 questions for the Gurus
1) I am migrating some machines at a client. I used the printer migration tool in windows 2008 so export the settings of the printers to a file, then I reimported them into the new print server. All goes well but the users do not see the new printers, do I have to readd the printers again on every user? If I don't how do I get the users to see the printers on the new server is there a tool?
2) The users all have mapped drives however the Data machine is now virtualized and the data is now migrated to tthe virtual machine. Is there a tool that I can run that will remap all their drives to the new server? Instead of me going to every single machine and checking their mappings to configure the log on script properly is there some kind of tool that will extract the data for me?
If I'm not clear in what I need let me know!
Thanks

1.) I don't know anything about printers.
2.) How were the network drives handled before? Were they done manually or through a GPO?
Anyways, you say you are migrating some clients... but you don't say from what to what. What OS on the servers? What domain (if any) to which functional level? Were the users already in OUs or are they now? etc

I'll assume they do not have AD/Group Policies otherwise he would have used that. Depending on if they are running desktop firewalls, you may or may not have to visit each desktop personally. If their desktops are running XP or 7, here is the syntax for installing printers from the command line, everything you need to know about it and then some.

Or maybe you can try NET USE with PSEXEC
