Hi Guys ,

i have a quick question for you ...Is possible create a bootable usbkey with WinPe4 IN UEFI mode ?

I'm trying to search this info but without success .

Bumbastik, I do not know about WinPE 4.0 but I have created a 3.0 USB stick (nothing special done) that I can boot in both old BIOS mode and UEFI mode. I use it to start a flat install (from HDD). UEFI mode allows the creation of a GPT formatted disk. Enjoy, John.

I'm not sure you can boot a FAT32 volume in UEFI mode.

It's supported by default. Copy and paste files to usb key.

Tripredacus, as I stated above, I can boot my WinPE 3.0 in legacy or UEFI BIOS. I just checked again and the USB stick is FAT32. Enjoy, John.

EDIT: Bumbastik, In my comments above I am discussing results with 64 bit WinPE 3.0. I also have a 32 bit USB stick and it will not boot in UEFI mode.

Should be, but won't. Spec only supports 64bit capable "things." But... that's just official support. No one can say it won't work which in this case it sounds like it does.

Hello Guys ,

all the specs are confirmed

UsbKey -> Fat32 +WinPe 4 x64 -> Works fine
UsbKey -> Fat32 +WinPe 4 x32-> Doesn't work
UsbKey -> NTFS +WinPe 4 x32-> Doesn't work
UsbKey -> NTFS +WinPe 4 x64-> Doesn't work

How to build WinPe 4 Uefi mode

- start with admin privilege DandISetEnv.bat
- run copype.cmd amdx64 x\yourforlder
- mount -> customize and commit your boot.wim present inside media/sources/boot.wim
- copy ALL the content of the media folder on the root of your usb key Fat 32

In the WinPE 4.0 files is MakeWinPEMedia.cmd which formats and copies the necesdsary files to the USB stick (/ufd switch). It formats the stick in FAT32 format using DiskPart. Enjoy, John.

UEFI 2.3.1 started showing up early this year, nevermind the publish date on that document. There are a few ways I have found so far.

1. In the BIOS, there is an option to enable UEFI boot
2. The motherboard spec sheet mentions support for "Fast Boot"

All Intel boards (look at board rev/AA number) on this list have it:

Note the exceptions below. Anything newer from Intel have it, such as X79, 77 chipsets, but some of their "embedded" type systems, do not have it such as the D2700MUD. You'd have to look at the ProductSpec PDFs to find this info.

Other ones its tough. All the new Compal, Pegatron and ASI notebooks/Ultrabooks have it, as do the A75 MSI AMD boards, but this information is even harder to find. The only reason I know those is because I've gotten in the habit of asking.

Unfortunately it does only work on fat/fat32. I have tested exFat but this doesn't work, too.
So my install.wim file can't be greater than 4 GB due to FAT32 limitation
