SBS 2003 raid install on AMD A75 mb

Sorry for the delay. The vid card is built in to the board. Just using vga port. CPU is AMD A4 3400. No to sound card, yes to lan. The board is Gigabyte A75M-D2H.

One temporary device is SIIG SATA 6 gb/s 2S1P PCIe card to allow IDE drives during install.

The site link for drivers is here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3930#dl

There are so many drivers on the cd. How do you figure out which are needed?

I installed and ran Agent Ransack since it searches very well. The device id's listed in Symantec System Recovery "Recover Anywhere" cd didn't seem to match any drivers on the cd. I did text string searches.

Thanks so much for helping put this together. It will really get me out of a huge bind.

No problem :)

If your motherboard is Gigabyte A75M-D2H then you can't be using the a built-in graphic card because there is none ;) I think that the graphics you're using is integrated in the CPU. In order to find proper drivers I just check the motherboard's specification and then search for the newest versions of the drivers on their manufacturers' websites. From my experience the vast majority of things included on the CD you're talking about is probably completely unnecessary (=bloatware). The motherboard is a pretty standard one so building a package of drivers shouldn't be very difficult.

This is the first part of the instructions:

This is how you should prepare your drivers folder. First of all, create a folder called "drivers" next to the i386 (you need to copy the contents of your Windows CD to your disk):

i386
drivers

Next you should prepare the drivers:

1) Realtek RTL8111E

- Create a folder "drivers\Realtek RTL8111E".

- Go to here, download "WinXP and WinServer 2003 Driver" (Driver_XP_5798_07272012.zip) and unpack it.

- Delete all files with *64* as they are for XP/2003 x64.

- Move the remaining files to "drivers\Realtek RTL8111E":

RtNicprop32.DLL
RTNUninst32.dll
Netrtle.inf
netrtle.cat
Rtenic.sys
Rtenicxp.sys

(I'm not sure which of the two files Rtenic.sys and Rtenicxp.sys the system will choose so let's keep both)

- Open netrtle.inf and completely remove [sourceDisksNames] and [sourceDisksFiles] sections:

[SourceDisksNames]
1=%DISKNAME%,,,

[SourceDisksFiles]
Rtenic.sys = 1
Rtenicxp.sys = 1
Rtenic64.sys = 1
RTNicProp32.dll = 1
RTNicProp64.dll = 1
RTNUninst32.dll = 1
RTNUninst64.dll = 1

2) Realtek ALC889

- Create a folder "driver\Realtek ALC889".

- Go to here, download "Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) Driver only (ZIP file)" and unpack it.

- We don't know the exact hardware id of your sound card so it will be safer to just include everything so copy all files from "WDM" to "drivers\Realtek ALC889" except the ones with *64*:

Hi,

Working on this now. There are lots of SourceDiskName sections in the inf's, one for each language. They alternate with ServiceName sections, which I am leaving.

The ALC899 link (step2) is not working from here. I get the "I accept" and then click next but it cycles back. Search for ALC899 only returns the datasheet.

Am I looking in the wrong place?

Actually, after thinking about it, I believe it should be possible to remove all [sourceDisksNames*] and [sourceDisksFiles*] sections automatically :) so you should just left them untouched now.

This is a fixed version of the instructions (ALC899 is fixed too).

From commandline:

DEL *64*

- Move the remaining files to "drivers\Realtek RTL8111E":

RtNicprop32.DLL
RTNUninst32.dll
Netrtle.inf
netrtle.cat
Rtenic.sys
Rtenicxp.sys

(I'm not sure which of the two files Rtenic.sys and Rtenicxp.sys the system will choose so let's keep both)

2) Realtek ALC889

- Create a folder "driver\Realtek ALC889".

- Go to here, click on "Software", download "Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) Driver only (ZIP file)" and unpack it.

- We don't know the exact hardware id of your sound card so it will be safer to just include everything so copy all files from "WDM" to "drivers\Realtek ALC889" except the ones with *64*:

Hello. Thank you for providing this information. I managed to recover one of the Symantec backup images using easeus restoration software.

It was eye-opening to try to use the Symantec system recovery CD. They have a "recover anywhere" option that I was unable to install a single driver with.

Thankfully, your last post had all of the information that was needed. I booted the recovered partition into safe mode and did battle with SBS and the hardware manufacturer CDs for hours. My only weapon was a priceless information you provided in the last post, which is the reason that our SBS installation is now fully restored and performing drastically better than ever. :D

You guys are doing truly great work! I feel like an undeserving recipient and am immeasurably grateful for your help and good nature. You should know that you were a key factor in keeping our server installation alive. The MS Access hub replica that I use for my practice runs on this server. While the installation is primarily a home one, I operate an office-less single provider diagnostics service that must access the server.

Since Microsoft dropped support for Access replication, I've become entirely dependent on our current server installation. David Fenton, Microsoft's replication guru set up my replication scheme and sadly died a year and a half ago. All would have been lost without recovery to new hardware.

How can I thank you for what you did? One thing is certain, I will never forget this fortunate encounter. :)

In fact, I hoped that we would actually try the direct driver integration :whistle: but it seems that you've managed to get everything done without it ;)

Anyway, while working on this stuff I've learnt a lot about integrating drivers, especially mass storage drivers. I still need to give some final touches to the script. I'll add information about it here later.
