And WOOT!

DisplayFusion Beta Change Log
v5.0.0 (Beta 8) ~ Coming Soon!

What is it exactly?

Change: StartIsBack support has been added (alternate Start Menu)

Is that what you meant?

I meant, what is the product? What is that program that's in beta?

DisplayFusion. I've been using it for several years. Follow the link I gave before for the details. It provides superior multi-monitor support.

I saw that but I don't get what these menu apps have to do with it. I use Actual Multiple Monitors just fine. They didn't need to add SiB supports???

Maybe they support using it from the second monitor?

Is it possible for you to bring back Aero Glass feature just like on Windows 7 in future versions of StartIsBack?

That's being worked on separately. In case you haven't discovered it already, see this thread. In one of the posts there, Tihiy (the creator of StartIsBack) offered to help with that project, so we'll see what happens.

Good luck!

Just tested out Aero Glass Win8 and found some interesting results with SiB, if you disable transparency on the start menu in the SiB options it will bring back the blur on the start menu.

That's right, if blur is done correctly it will be applied to the start menu if additional translucency is disabled. Taskbar may need a bit of additional processing which i should offer in future version.

Interesting. The Start Menu is blurred but the frame around the user pic isn't. Same goes for Win7. I never noticed it before.

Currently, blur effect is applied under anything which DWM draws with using one plain colour (without any texture). So if start menu is not a texture but just a coloured rectangle than it will work for it ;-)

Then it should work for non-transparent taskbar too.

Currently not (unless you changed taskbar rendering). DWM renders all windows and its borders using Direct3D 10.1. But taskbar is rendered using Direct3D 11. I have implemented blurring for version 10.1 only.

Yes you're correct, disabling the transparency on the taskbar also results in it having blur, although the opacity seems allot higher behind the taskbar compared to the windows and start menu.

I'm not 100% certain this is actually a recent change, but in the search results, StartisBack will not cycle the selection when the up arrow key is pressed.

In the start menu, without typing anything in the search bar, it works for me too. But if I type sth. and get results, it'll only cycle downwards.

It's working fine, either direction - for me, too. ;)

Thanks for the answers! Weird, seems to be working for everyone. Here's a small example video.
