Hi all, as you have probably read, I made a tutorial for putting explorer into Microsoft Windows PE. I have come to the conclusion that explorer and PE don't go. Explorer will work just about, but there are plenty of errors....

So I have decided to make a new, lightweight shell for Microsoft Windows PE (it should also work on Barts PE). What I'm asking is if anyone has any suggestions or ideas for tools or anything that should be incorporated into it... If anyone has any ideas that would be great :) !

At the moment I’m going to add these features:

1) Format Dialog
2) Has Programs Menu (Will read XML or INI file for the structure)
3) Built in internet explorer
4) Task Manager
5) File Browser (to run files etc...)

I’m coding this in Visual Basic, if anybody wants to help to develop the project your welcome to :D!

Thanks,
Chris

This is a good idea.

Not to take away your thunder, there is a small program, called nu2menu, included with Bart's PE Builder. Maybe you should look at the for ideas?

It uses an XML file for menu items and such as well.

i know of nu2. This will be similar but will be more of a group made project. It will inclue things that people need in windows pe. It will probably also be open source - so people can edit to there needs.

This will be a complete LIGHTWEIGHT shell for windows pe, not just a menu! :D.... :D

I'm glad you lot think that its a good idea so far :) !

Im at school now, one i get home im gonna start making it - if you have any initial ideas post them now.

If you need to contact me email me or add me to msn: Chris@equinoxbot.com

Later,
Chris.
