zup peeps,

running outlook 2003 and I cant download a PST file that I sent myself. it was bloked as unsafe. I know how to remove that feature from outlook express, but how can i from office outlook? I checked everywhere in the settings but nothing related to that.

I also wanted to ask, do you have to specify all the extensions you want to let through?? Or can you only do it for one at a time??

hello I think u didn't look at my post carefully there are already 2 extensions in there, which means u can add more with a semi colon...

if u save that code as a .reg file and merge it
it will automatically create that value.
u won't have that value when u install office. its a tweak....

ok well its easy.
copy the

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security]
"Level1Remove"=".exe;.msi"

into a blank notepad document.

press save and in there type filename.reg and save it.
to install this just double click on the .reg file and it should install
otherwise right click on it and click "merge".
if u want to do this unattendedly type

regedit /S filename.reg

i'm using OE 6 on XP-I don't have Office installed on here, how do I edit the reg files-I tried what u did but obviously changed the file target, didn't work...

edit: while i'm looking for it did u check the security tab under options
look for "do not allow attachments potentially etc.."

ok the registry key for allowing all types of attachment is:

Normally its not the same number. Found that out with my OutlookOpt option's program.
Note: There is a second key that could be set that blocks exe attachment's.
1 to block and dword:00000000 to not block

For oe 6, i dont know the registry settings but you can go to Tools>>Options>>Security Tab

Under The Security tab IN the Virus Protection Section uncheck the check box that says "Do not allow Attachments to be saved or opened..."
You can then download all the attachments no matter the type

Hey Mac... I was not able to edit the registry. It tells me that the file is not a Reg file. I followed ur instructions and I could not do it. please let me know what else I can do.
