error while update code 8024401C

Hi ,When I am trying to update the windows I am getting this error 8024401C. I have checked that this error is related to proxy settings. But I am not behind proxy.

So how should I resolve this error

For me, it helps (in most problems with WU on XP and 7) if I delete the contents of C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\ (especially DataStore.edb) and C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\ and then restart wuauclt.exe.

YOu get a timeout:

8024401C = WU_E_PT_HTTP_STATUS_REQUEST_TIMEOUT

Is there any better information logged in Event Viewer?

You can also look at the Windows Update Log, but beware it might be a large file.

Thanks .I will try if it happens next time.For now the problem is solved.It happens to be a server problem.
