Cant get web site on the net Rate Topic: -----

Hi for 6 years ive been hosting my own web site on my pc, but september 2012 (i think )people couldnt get access to it( my pc was alright but www.ronuk.org wasnt (differnt drives)) so i left it , anyway a week ago i decided to get it on the net again.Normally you give the web site to google and its put up on the net again within about 3-4 days all is well.This time theres all sorts of checks before google will take it on something like DNS TXT, META TAG, GOOGLE ANALYTICS, DOMAIN NAME PROVIDER.
So ive gone with meta tag and that should be all right.
So im trying to get a basic web page on the net like this:

at least that should work but ive been 4 days now and still no joy(google says one hour) as far as i no that should be good enough.
Errors i get are :
"We weren't able to verify your site: http://www.ronuk.org/" every time.
"Your request has been received and will be processed shortly."

have i just got to give it time to wait until i can see it? If i can get this going than i can put my own web site going again.
any clues any one?
COMODO CIS i run that could it be that's stopping google getting in?
Do i have to keep VERIFY'ing it till its on the net?

You say "you give the web site to google and its put up on the net again". What do you mean by that exactly. Assuming you are Ron Edmonds in Reno, the domain name "ronuk.org" seems to be registered to you and has been since 25-Aug-2005 and doesn't expire until 25-Aug-2013. Do you have a fixed or dynamic IP address at home? If you are hosting the site itself on your PC at home, then it's a matter of getting that IP address associated with the domain name on all the various DNS services, right? How have you done that in the past, exactly?

Going to the IP address of the website only shows a placeholder page.

Hi ime on a fixed IP 81.102.255.73 with virginmedia broadband uk , and ive had that site since 25-Aug-2005.
Ocasionally id take that site down for whatever reason for two or three months by which time i wouild have to give that site to GOOGLE to put it up on the web again via there "webmaster tools, url submiter" ,it might take 3-4 days but it was put up. Now ive been on there site about 2 weeks and it still hasn't shown.
At the moment ive just made a basic site as per:

By the way who is RENO that you mentioned
DNS TXT, META TAG, GOOGLE ANALYTICS, DOMAIN NAME PROVIDER. i never had to do that are they essential?

I went here http://whois.net/whois/ronuk.org It says the Registrant for ronuk.org is in Reno, NV in US While http://myip.ms/info/...s/81.102.255.73 lists your location is in UK through Virgin Media.

I am pretty much a noob at network analysis so I was unable to find any ties from ronuk.org to the IP address that you gave in my brief searches.

First your website is down or a firewall is blocking access as the port 80 is closed.

Sorry, no. I don't have enough experience in the area. Did you check your router/firewall settings as allen2 suggested to see why port 80 is closed?

Yes but i get this
Error: I could not see your service on 81.102.255.73 on port (80)
Reason: Connection timed out
which i would coz google havnt put it up yet (it's a bit of NEVER ENDING CIRCLE)

You keep saying "google". I assume you are talking about Google Sites - http://www.google.co...n/overview.html? I've never used them, nor known anyone who has. Sorry.

I just thought id tell you ive gone to ronuk.webng.com a free server and i was on the net instantly. I dont suppose you could tell me if can see it (it only says "It works! yes it does")

That and perhaps which DNS service one uses? I use OpenDNS - http://www.opendns.com/ and got this when I tried what you did:

I had noticed both of those IP addresses, but hadn't put together that it was a factor of ronuk.org vs www.ronuk.org

I suppose bphlpt & tripredacus would like to let me in on, what your saying it appears that ive got 2 names both of the names a legal though what is this thuogh 174.129.88.121 ?
81.102.255.73 is the no i use all the time i don't now who the other one is?
Ive found i get the same if i put them in CMD 174.129.88.121 & 81.102.255.73

I had to go to bed but before i went i suddenly thought HOSTS FILE ,in there it was empty so i quickly put it those 3 address's we had and went to bed. In the morn it still wouldn't work but within the hr it was live HOORAY.So make of that what you will , its live and that all i know.

For all intents and purposes, www.ronuk.org and ronuk.org are the same. A server or browser may automatically insert the www. to the domain upon going to the site. Either way, both addresses should resolve to the same IP. You should email who handles your name server and see if it is something they can take a look at.

According to this http://www.whatsmydns.net/ :
http://www.whatsmydn...A/www.ronuk.org
www.ronuk.org is OK *everywhere* but in India (and resolves correctly to 81.102.255.73)

whilst:
http://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/ronuk.org
resolves *everywhere* included India to 174.129.88.121
which is one of those "placeholder" (vaguely suspect) sites:
http://whois.domaint.../174.129.88.121

This however happens only for "A" records.

It is possible that you have not set the DNS record correctly.
The DNS record A name should be for the name WITHOUT the www.
http://en.wikipedia....ain_Name_System
http://en.wikipedia....ied_domain_name

And the www is an Alias or CNAME, example:
https://support.eapp...l---dns-manager

Your provider (and their "control panel") may use different approach, however.
