Hello there. I've been trying to do a silent install for F-Prot 3.14b and it is almost working. As I didn't found anything about that on this forum, it might be useful.

I simply use the switches /HIDDEN and /INSTALL=TYPICAL in my RunOnce.cmd.
> REG ADD %KEY%\030 /VE /D "F-Prot v3.14b" /f
> REG ADD %KEY%\030 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\F-Prot\setup.exe /HIDDEN /INSTALL=TYPICAL" /f

But if it works perfectly when I do my test in a command window, it won't work during the installation of windows.

If anyone as an idea, it would be much appreciated and sorry for my poor english :)

Hi Nerces, I make a setup.iss file & place it in the same folder as f-prot's setup.exe.
I then repackage it using Iexpress to make a switchless .exe. The switch I use inside Iexpress is setup.exe -s

This is what I use to install it:

Setup.exe /AUTO /INSTALLDIR=%ProgramFiles%\F-Prot /INSTALL=CUSTOM[FPWIN,FPDOS,FPSTOP,FPUPDATER]
REGEDIT /S Settings.reg
schtasks /create /tn "F-Prot Updater" /tr "\"%ProgramFiles%\F-Prot\FP-Updater\Updater.exe\" /run /quit /internet" /sc onlogon /ru user /rp pass

As you can see I don't install the F-Prot scheduler, I use the native XP task manager to run the update instead.
I also inport my setting in the registry manualy

Hope this helps,
Proto

I made one for f-prot 3.15 using the same method as my earlier post above, while making setup.iss you can choose not to install the scheduler.

I want the scheduler though. I dont use windows scheduler. Matter of fact it it not installed. hehe

Anyways I just dont want it to scan right after installing like it does now. It appears to be ignoring /NORUN. Does not matter where you put it either. :)

Anyone have any ideas.

my method works, have used it at least 20 times, make your own setup.iss & include scheduler, totally silent, no scan.

ok, its fpsched and fpcheck that causes the update/scan to run...so I would suggest using a custom install, then once your computer is all set up, install scheduler.

By using the following command line :

start /wait %systemdrive%\Apps\f-prot\Setup.exe /HIDDEN /AUTO /NOHOOKSHELL /NORUN /INSTALLDIR=%ProgramFiles%\F-Prot /INSTALL=CUSTOM[FPWIN,FPDOS,FPUPDATER]

.. it runs fine but i get the spashscreen install and the progression bar. Did i miss a switch ?

swampy : How do you make your own setup.iss ? Can you tell more about this method ?

Thank you.

In order to run an InstallScript MSI project installation program in silent mode, one must first run Setup.exe with the /r switch to generate a response file, which stores information about the data entered and options selected by the user at run time.

Running an InstallScript MSI installation program with the command Setup.exe /r displays all the run-time dialog boxes, and stores the data in a file called Setup.iss, created inside the system's Windows folder. To specify an alternative response file name and location, use the /f1 argument, described below.

eg Setup.exe /r /f1"C:\Temp\Setup.iss"

Hallo

Trying Unattended, silent install of f-prot v3.15 I've tried a thing like this, but it doesn't work at all...

Setup.exe /r /f1"D:\Setup.iss" /HIDDEN /INSTALL=TIPYCAL INSTALLDIR=%ProgramFiles%\F-Prot /NORUN

So, i've decided the use of IExpress...
I've extracted the iss file with "Setup.exe /r /f1"D:\Setup.iss" (this command for me, install f-prot in %ProgramFiles%\F-prot\ running a scan of the system at the end of tre installation process and launch fprot-scheduler) and i've packed togheter Setup.exe and setup.iss, renaming new file Setup.exe (using "Setup.exe -s" as command to launch) but also this method isn't working...
can i know the exact procedure?

1) Setup.exe /r /f1"D:\Setup.iss"
2) Iexpress (how to create this?)
3) How Install unattended, silent and with /NORUN option with RunOnceEx?
4) Other?
5) Other again?

thank you
mrmr

EDIT 1:
second try...after extracted setup.iss i've tried to pack with IExpress all the files of the installation dir, renaming new file fprot315.exe (10MB about. Using "Setup.exe -s" as command to launch) but also this method hasn't working...

Try this:
Make a new folder C:\fp
Extract the installation files from the f-prot installer to C:\fp (it's an SFX, I use WinRAR)
Place the setup.iss I posted above in C:\fp. My setup.iss doesn't install the annoying scheduler which I believe is what starts the scan after install.
Copy & paste the following in notepad & save it as fprot.sed in C:\fp.
