Your Favorite Themes for Windows 8

Nice job xXiNightXx! like the use of square and nav buttons, just not a big fan of the aero taskbar streak in your png resource, now if we could only bring back the blue magnify glass to match the blue text that would be a nice touch..

For those who want the windows 7 Aero style. I designed this theme to have 2 flavor styles (Square and rounded) That works well with the aero tool available from this site.

Aero 8 for Windows 8

Welcome to the world of Aero for windows 8! This theme has been redesigned to fit in with the style of windows 8 with squared off borders, buttons, and controls (Also Rounded). It works well with the Aero blur tool and startisback Start menu re-implementation. This theme includes all Windows 7 Themes; Architecture, Characters, Lanscapes, Nature, Scenes, & United states. (Includes Wallpapers, SoundSchemes, & Cursors).

Download (also check out my Deviantart for more theme styles I have been working on :D )

Themes are not static! You can change them how you like! You can always customize how you want your start menu (with startisback ) or wallpapers (within windows 8 personalization dialog).

I am using StartIsBack. This theme doesn't show the user picture on Start Menu although I have this option checked in SIB settings. But I really like the way the Automatic of this theme picks the color when the wallpaper changes. It looks nicer than that of the default theme, especially if the color is red or pink.

I'll try to apply the theme by xXiNightXx to see if I like it!

xXiNightXx,

Thanks for sharing your work. Hope it will change the color of the theme when I change the wallpaper. Blue theme is somewhat blue to me!

It does for the theme. The other wallpaper choices you will have to enable that option in the personalization window :D

xXiNightXx,

Even though the inactive title bar is a little too dark, I think your theme is very good-looking! It does change the color automatically with the wallpapers. But why the window corners still look round even when I choose Aero 8 Square default? Is it because I don't have Aero Glass?

PS. Everytime I change the theme I hate W8 like hell! It always disables the screen saver whenever a new theme is applied!

Edit: Never mind! I've just enabled windows shadows and they look square now!

Thorax,

I found out the reason! If I choose the first visual style (default start menu style) of SIB, then the user picture won't display. If I choose one of the rest three styles, it shows the user picture normally. Thanks for posting the picture to let me know.

PS. I was a little confused and wrong when talking about having the option in SIB checked! Actually it wasn't checked!

Edit: remove picture.

Just posted a new theme today for any of the Vista lovers out there

vista8mix_by_mrgrim01-d641gls.png

I use this as StartMenu Theme with StartIsBack. Looks nice :):thumbup

Only the red highlight of shutdown looks a bit ugly.

Is it possible to make drop shadows more 'square'? In W8 window style it looks strange with sqare windows edges and rounded shadows ;)

I managed to lighten the inactive border and also de-saturated the borders a bit. They were a little too saturated. I should have an update for it out later. To use the round border theme, you will need to use this tool to make the blur go rounded.

xXiNightXx,

Thank you in advance. I'll wait for the update version. About AGTweaker, I'm afraid I can't use it because I don't use Aeroglass. Thanks anyway for suggesting.

i think your themes are great and the inclusion of the square one just about does it for me - would it be a big job to also include them with Win8 caption buttonn - close - minimise etc - one of those silly things that from not liking them at first i think they keep a cleaner look

bottom_details_pane_for_windows_8_by_mrgrim01-d647pv9.jpg

Hi guys just thought I would share with you a new installer I made to have the details pane back on the bottom.

This is just a simple installer, it contains 4 Respatcher files that will patch your shell32.dll UI files to bring back the Windows 7 style Details pane at the bottom, it also has options to have the details pane at the top, also know as Topshell and it can put the Folderband at the bottom.

Note: To have the folderband at all you will need to disable the ribbon first or you will not see any effect from using that option.

The installer has 4 settings, the first 2 settings will display the Details pane at the Bottom and the Folderband at the top, the default way seen in Windows 7, the bottom 2 options will place the Details Pane at the top and Folderband at the Bottom, after the install completes you have a couple of post instal options to either run sfc /scannow and restore any modified system files or to use sfc /scanfile to restore onle the shell32.dll, this will allow you to reverse any changes the installer makes, you can also access those options at any time just by running the installer and not selecting from the first 4 options.

I also Added a new option to have themeable Control Panel Navigation Panes with supporting themes but as yet there are only my themes :P

Update 10/05/2013: Updated installer with Multi Language support (Stable) http://www.mediafire.com/?l9ewhxo90iz7ec1

Very Important!! Always Create a Backup or System Restore before making changes to System Files.

I have tested these mods pretty good on the VM and it doesn't break any other functionality but that doesn't mean it wont for you, I know that the unsigned shell32.dll caused problems with Creative sound cards on Windows 7.

Known problems:

Does not restore Ownership to TrustedInstaller (Restoring TrustedInstaller caused Boot Failure)

Thanks for update the theme. Version 2.4 looks very nice! Saturation now is very good. But spikes (espeсially at taskbar) seems to be more visible then in Windows 7. It's real to make they less visible? They needed but they must be a less visible.

For those of us that want our custom theme color adjust as we change the theme papers, Windows 8 came out with a feature called Auto Colorization and here is how to activate it.

• Change dominant color of theme wallpaper as you change background or slideshow •

• Open your custom aero.theme in Notepad (make sure the theme is not you current active theme first)

• Go down to the [VisualStyles] section

• Look for the line AutoColorization=0 and change to 1

• Save the file and reload theme in Personalization

Now your Windows colors will auto adjust depending on the dominant background color!yes.gif
