Not to get into politics, but does that even work anymore? There was a news story some time ago (maybe a month) that drone activity will no longer be reported to the media.

Cannot say.

To be fair, if you do something that is classified and/or secret, it is a good rule of the thumb that you don't report it to the media, but IF you decide to pass these info to the media (and you are the US Gov) it makes little sense that the geniuses at Apple label an app that simply analyzes/collects these public data as "falling into a category of "concepts" that the company decides not to advance".

BTW, and as a matter of fact, I believe that 2/3 to 3/4 of the whatever data is given to the media by the Governement (when military matters or security are involved) is either false, deceiving or both, a strange mix of PR's and counterintelligence, and the results of "external investigations" are often partial when not plainly "wrong", which makes the app one of the most senseless one around, still - as long as it does nothing illegal - Apple has no valid reason to allow or disallow it in the store.

P.S.: Anyone knows what can be worse than a drone?

A flock of 'em:

For NO apparent reason, BIG DRONES :w00t:

http://www.theverge.com/2014/9/24/6839225/facebook-says-its-internet-drones-will-be-the-size-of-747s

(though possibly an engineer that uses indifferently Toyota Prius's and 747's as units of measure is not IMHO particularly reliable):

Maguire also further said that the drones should be thought of as planes because they will be "roughly the size of a commercial aircraft, like a 747." He later compared one drone design in Facebook's lab to the length of "six or seven [Toyota] Priuses" but said it only weighs as much as four of the car's tires.

That's what I was also thinking ... since sharks are known to eat almost anything. I believe license plates and you name it has been found in a shark's s stomach ... maybe everything except a riding lawnmower.

That's interesting about Google’s Undersea Cables ... maybe the sharks are on our side!

Perhaps the eletrical impulses going through the cables are picked up by the shark since they and other sea animals can read electrical impulses of sea creatures in "fear" mode and such. Don't know, just a theory, not very scientific.
