Tuxera Recovery for Windows

Tuxera Recovery for Windows... how good is it?

I'm curious about it. Tuxera is the source of the free de-facto standard NTFS driver for linux, ntfs-3g, which is really pretty good..

It seems to me like a "plain" file/partition undeleter.

I doubt that it can recover any file that PHOTOREC and/or DMDE cannot recover.

Tuxera Recovery recovers files:

  • Deleted without Recycle Bin (Shift+Del), or when Recycle Bin has been emptied
  • Removed by virus attack or power failure
  • Deleted by formatting drive
  • Deleted by partitioning drive
  • Deleted by fdisk
  • Lost due to improper unplug of USB stick or hard drive
  • Lost due to improper removal of SD card from camera

Of course in the case of:

  • Deleted by partitioning drive
  • Deleted by fdisk

no file is deleted, and you want to recover partition or volumes (please read as TESTDISK and/or DMDE) and the

  • Deleted by formatting drive

does NOT apply to Vista  and later UNLESS the formatting was performed with the /q or "quick" switch.
