You post in wrong forum!

You can't change skin for now. Old skin was for IPB 3.1.4 and we are on IPB 3.4.5.

btw, some like this skin, some not.... always same story...

Just in case someone doesn't remember how the old skin looked like:

http://web.archive.org/web/20130530085213/http://www.msfn.org/board/

I'm not sure what the exact reason is but for me it looked much more "clean" then the current one. Maybe it's because the background colour was more solid? Some fonts were also a little bit larger.

I personally don't mind if there are differences between the two as it's probably not easy to modify the current one. Good readability is the only thing which concerns me. If possible please take into account that too small / low contrast / blurry fonts are never good for anyone and are especially difficult to read for people with poor eyesight or other eye problems.

Just as an example - a gray font on a grayish background in quotes is particularly hard to read (already mentioned this in the other topic). Is there any reason to use Google Web Fonts for the top menu? The rest of the board uses standard system fonts so I think that it's kind of pointless to download a font just to display a single menu. The font used in the menu ('Lato') also doesn't look very well on a CRT monitor with ClearType disabled (the browser is Firefox v22).

The frustration comes from not being able to keep the previous skin. This always seems to get broken with every upgrade, which is pretty pathetic on the part of IPB (we know it's not your fault).

None of us are opposed to having other "new" skin options; it's the fact that the old one dies every time.

IMHO this Metro pastel low-contrast crap is like martian red weed: Growing everywhere and ruining everything.

I's not necessary related to Metro... Many of the so called "modern" websites seem to use those low contrast themes. Add to that the already small fonts (12 px or even smaller) and the result is just a disaster in terms of accessibility.

This website says it all:

yes smaller letters on bigger resolutions (thus even MORE SMALLER display output) is so logical :D
dunno what caught people these days but they are idiots and they ride id***-wave

I even love on many webpages how content is centered yet squished for 1024x768 resolution
hooray for 70% unused space and huge a** scroll down content

You're right but this particular "issue" is a little bit more complicated. The ideal length of a line of text is thought to be between 50-75 characters:

http://baymard.com/blog/line-length-readability

so ideally the text should be displayed in one column on lower resolution and automatically reflow into more columns as the resolution gets wider. This requires a website with flexible layout but most sites seem to still rely on fixed values (set in pixels). The result is that they design a website for 1024x768 which, when displayed on a wider screen, results in the text centred in the middle with two wide empty margins on both sides.

The other way to overcome this problem is to drastically increase the font size:

http://mikeyanderson.com/optimal_characters_per_line

but it's kind of a controversial idea ;)
