I wish that Office Shrinker can support Chinese Traditional...
I’ll send you the log file.
Thank you!

Unfortunately, I can't get it to work: it doesn't behave as it should, and couldn't find any reference to my problems in this thread...
This is what happens:
After I launch your app, the Office 2k3 installer is started:
Window Title: Windows Installer
Window Text: Preparing to install
Then, the windows changes to this:
Window Title: Microsoft Office Professional 2003
Window Text: Please Wait. Configuring Microsoft Office Professional Edition
At this point your app gets immediately terminated!
(While the Windows Installer goes on to present -after a while- the usual "Ignore-Retry-Cancel" window)
Any Idea?
This
Shrink_logs.zip (6.29K)
Number of downloads: 83 is .zip with all the log files created in C: by the app (since this is office ITALIAN, i've also included the corrected .ini file, in case you plan to hard-code it into your app).
Many Thanks in advance
L

after following every instruction in the tutorial
this is the problem i have
problem: Office Shrink isnt really shrinking that much
office xp does work after the shrinked version is installed
but the shrinked version is 288mb!
im trying to shrink office xp pro w/ frontpage
i made the administrative point
and slipstreamed sp3
and made my mst
after that i decided to test it before shrinking it:
the installation worked perfectly fine before shrinking it
i was able to have everything i wanted setup perfectly without any problems
im able to use the programs installed
after shrinking on a new virtual formated system on vmware for the 3rd time
(which meant i had to format the virtual pc 3 times!)
the shrinked version of office xp totalls up to a whomping 288mb!
shouldnt the actual filesize be from 100mb - 130mb
this isnt really shrinking
i tryed to 7zip it down to ~36mb by using asta's instructions and the file size became 201mb!
my office shrink logs are attached to this post
What am I going to do?
somebody help me please!
im begging
Attached File(s)
-
officeshrinklogs.rar (78.5K)
Number of downloads: 41

All this program does is take out what you do not want to install. Therefore you contol your own destiny. If 288mb isnt good enough for you leave something else out.
Besides i think that 288 is much better than 600+

actuall if you dont install office there should not be a need to reformat.

I dont know what to tell you about 7zip are you sure you used the highest compression? Other than that i dont really know how much smaller you can make it unless you take more out.
Everybodys results are different. Dont go expecting the best results when you have an entirely different configuration.

thanks for the tip about reformating

1 more question if i was to shrink again, do i have to reformat my formated virtual pc even though i fully uninstalled office xp?

installed w/ 'typical' except Outlook and Office Assistant
untouched totals
1.69 GB (1,819,569,631 bytes)
ISO reduction via removal of redundancy
927 MB (972,058,624 bytes)
officeshrink
866 MB (908,480,291 bytes)
officeshrink w/ ISO reduction via removal of redundancy
625 MB (656,277,504 bytes)
using WinRAR for each of the 5 individual install routines, for unattended CD/DVD
342 MB (359,617,479 bytes)
and I'm sure if I didn't make 5 individual WinRAR SFX packages it would be even smaller, but this way I can have seperate installers for different situations.

30/03/2005 05:48 AM 82,924,934 Visio2003shrunk.exe
Thanks a ton for your time and effort with OfficeShrink! Only problems I encountered were with FrontPage/OneNote/Project/Visio and an xml file that made the installer think it was corrupted. Copied the xml files over to the proper directory in the target and tried it again, and it worked just fine. Woot!
