Hello,

I have upgraded the Operating System from Win 98 to Win 2k
Professional Edition. In Dial-Up-Networking when trying to connect to
the internet, it is giving the problem the Modem had not been
detected and device driver not installed. In win 98, there was no problem in detecting the modem .After upgrading only, it is giving the problem. Please suggest me a solution for it.

Regards,
-Lakshmi.

1.you can also try to uninstall the modem driver, then reinstall if it has a yellow ! in dev. manager.
2. try to reinstall the driver from an xp cd
3. swap the modem into a different pci slot. If onboard, disable in bios, start windws and then restart with modem bios enabled.
4. Check for phatom devices in device manager and uninstall them if they are present.

upgrading win9x to win2k never seems to go smoothly....

the two freeware programs on this page will be very helpful to identify, download, backup, and resolve driver type issues. i highly recommend keeping these little gems somewhere safe
