If your problem is really caused by Aero Glass, I will be glad to fix it. When I am back home, I will install chrome to test it. It would be good to know what your resource differences are under same conditions - the state with and without Aero Glass to compare. But as I already said, I doubt that this problem is really caused by Aero Glass - even if I allocate 10 GB RAM and create tons of memory leaks, I doubt it will raise resource usage of any other process than DWM.exe itself.

It seems to me with usage habits like yours you need more RAM.  16 GB is pretty small.

I also suggest directing your talents to productive tasks.  Write some useful software yourself, set up an eCommerce site, and make a few bucks from legitimate work.

I seem to have an issue using the key for my copy of aero glass. re-installed windows 2 times and now the key wont work with a newly replaced HD(old one died). I have been on the same pc since the first 2 keys. The website wont allow me to gen a key for this new hd replacement. Any way you can reset my activation count?

And the first new speciality - since now, every donator can theoretically generate almost infinite number of keys! Just one condition applies to avoid abusing this:

* The number of concurrent keys is still limited to your donation value but you can deactivate any of the keys when you need (e.g. change your hardware or something). Then you have to wait for 30 days before you can activate new machine code. I believe you will appreciate this new feature despite this small limitation.

Hi, bigmuscle

Thanks for your tool, i really missed aero. Always thought win8 needs some decent styling.

I donated 15 euro ~ a week ago, as I always donate to miscellaneous projects. I didn't expect that many keys in return! Thanks, I only needed one but appreciated.

I hacked something together with glass8, classicshell, uxstyle, regedit and an old win7 theme I used for years and I am happy with it.

with kind regards,

I am finally after my holiday and the weather is weird here, so I will have some free time which I can spare on Aero Glass development. You can look forward to some specialities such as performance improvements, important security fixes, completed GUI application and more. If you have any special requests which you think should be included in Aero Glass, feel free to write it here :-)

I'm happy the way it is. Never have any problems with it :-)

Though I understand that it's probably not possible, an ability to influence the glow and text color of the titles of ribbon-enabled windows would be really cool, and complete the product.

An idea for an effect I've been toying with, and I have NO idea how good or bad it would look if actually implemented, is a "curved refractive glass" type effect that would cause translucent parts to just slightly magnify the stuff they pass over, with a non-linear effect at the edges.  Kind of like moving one of those flattened marbles over a page.  Might be a really cool effect.  Or it might look sucky.

Other potentially slick ideas off the top of my head...

  • Little bubbles in the glass.

  • Irregular refractions (like 100 year old glass).

  • Reflections of nearby stuff (e.g., reflections of nearby screen elements, as though from the top surface near the edges of that curved refractive glass I mentioned above).

  • Subtle refractions that look kind of like what you see in gel buttons.

Just free associating here.  :)

Awesome. I also replaced my SSD and this wasted a key. Nice to hear that I can get a new key later :)

Thanks BM! Sure others will appreciate this especially when upgrading to one of the newer and faster ssd drives.

Nice Job!, Especially like your Win7 Rounded corners and matching start with taskbar.

P.S. I have the below 8.1 logo patcher for Sys Properties if you or anyone else needs it just let me know.
