Zombies just can't catch a break ... now the Pentagon has it's eye on them.

Pentagon Has Plan to Stop the Zombie Apocalypse

Defense Department has massive strategy for battling the walking dead. A document obtained by Foreign Policy magazine advises how to deal with ‘chicken zombies’ and ‘evil magic zombies’.

Never fear, the U.S. military has a strategic plan for surviving the zombie apocalypse.

Deep down in a secret computer network is an unclassified document named "CONOP8888," reports Foreign Policy magazine. It's a detailed synopsis for battling many kinds of zombies, including "chicken zombies," who rise up after being euthanized by farmers, to "evil magic zombies" that are life forms created via some form of occult experimentation."

The 2011 report calls for U.S. Strategic Command to develop a strategy for protecting "non-zombie humans from threats posed by a zombie horde."

Is it for real?

Yet the report contains a disclaimer that "this plan was not actually designed as a joke."

"Chicken zombies" may be the worst of the bunch when it comes to the types of walking dead identified in the plan.

...

Monroe, America makes it's own enemies, and I am pretty sure, somebody in the office, did this as a joke. Some guy or gal, probably said, "I wrote so many guides, could I write one of my own", and they did. Just like how the President allowed his SS ( Ha ha you get that joke ), to mess around with prostitutes while they were in Mexico. The best part is because this is official, it belongs to everybody.

This isn't a "new" story by any stretch of the imagination. The CDC used to have a zombie survival post on their blog back in May 2011. You can find the link to that page on this FEMA site, however the original CDC page is a 404.

The CDC does have another zombie page, which isn't much other than an advertisement for a book you can download.

I remember when this was first discovered and the "odd" part was that it wasn't on April Fool's day. Appears to be a joke none-the-less.

But it's on the Wayback Machine  :thumbup alright:

BTW, proof that bureaucracy is very important even in case of zombie apocalypse:

Below are a few items you should include in your kit, for a full list visit the CDC Emergency page.

  • Water (1 gallon per person per day)
  • Food (stock up on non-perishable items that you eat regularly)
  • Medications (this includes prescription and non-prescription meds)
  • Tools and Supplies (utility knife, duct tape, battery powered radio, etc.)
  • Sanitation and Hygiene (household bleach, soap, towels, etc.)
  • Clothing and Bedding (a change of clothes for each family member and blankets)
  • Important documents (copies of your driver’s license, passport, and birth certificate to name a few)
  • First Aid supplies (although you’re a goner if a zombie bites you, you can use these supplies to treat basic cuts and lacerations that you might get during a tornado or hurricane)

Zombie traffic police patrols are reknown to be very strict about driving without a driving license or failing to carry proof of identity ;).

Sorry, but these "sources" are -never- credible.
