Windows 98SE, 2GB RAM and Video Problems

Hi,

this is my first post here and I hope you can help me.

I want to install Windows 98SE next to Windows XP, and for Windows XP I want to use 2GB RAM.

I installed Windows 98 with only 1GB RAM and everythings worked fine. Before upgrading to 2GB RAM, I installed the unofficial Service Pack 2.1, which allows me to start Windows 98 with more than 1 GB RAM by adding the line MaxPhysPage=40000 to the System.ini.

But with 2GB RAM, the graphics arent working correctly.

If I connect the screen with DVI, it stays black and tells me the frequency is too high, if I use the VGA connector instead, everything looks blurry, and I can only use 256 colors and the resolution is low. (Native is 1600x1200).

If I remove the graphics card driver, it works with DVI as well.

There are also no problems under Windows XP.

Does anybody have an idea how to solve the graphics problem without removing a RAM Module everytime I want to use Windows 98.

My System:

Mainboard: MSI K8t Neo2-F V2.0

Graphics Card: Geforce 6800 GT with nVidia Driver 77.72

I get the same problem if I use the Geforce 6200 or the driver 81.98
