New Stars Wars Movie -- will you go to see it?

I've watched the trailer a couple of times, and already I can detect the trademark J.J. Abrams wild, jerky camera angles, and probably lens flares, too.

I'm going to assume that it won't be any better than his terrible Star Trek reboot -- which took every piece of canon from that universe, and re-wrote it, to worse effect. The one thing I liked about the first one was the addition of Winona Ryder. Other than that, I thought it sucked. I also wish that certain actors could gracefully exit the show/movie, instead of having about 5 different "farewell" cameos, appearances, and whatever.

The Spock character's story should have ended in the TNG episode "Unification." When Picard and Spock mind-meld. The end.

But no, they had to re-write all of Star Trek history in order to bring Spock back for one more action-packed appearance. Please.

The best farewell cameo was Dr. "Bones" McCoy in the first episode of the next generation.

To be honest, I still haven't watched the second newest Star Trek JJ Abram lame-fest. And I have zero desire to do so.

Therefore, I have no interest at all in the upcoming Star Wars. (What has the world come to.) It would be like watching Terminator 3 again, or Terminator Salvation, or Alien 3, or any other franchise film that was passed on to directors who aren't on the same page, and basically have less talent.

What do you guys think?

With Star Trek I'm sort of used to the gradual demise in quality... what with the entire shebang reaching it's zenith with Deep Space Nine season six, and then slowly dwindling from there (Voyager was decent, but Enterprise was lame).

I just think it's going to be a bigger shock when people are submitted to what will be JJ Abrams Star Wars... without any grace period, or buffer, in order to cushion the shock of how sucky it will be. Some may argue that the Star Wars prequels were the preparation for what's to come... but I doubt it. I think we're in a for a whole new level of suckiness.

Just my two cents.

I don't plan on seeing it ... I have not seen the last films ... lost track of how many there are now.

The more they crank out new films with the phony digital special effects ... the more I like the films from from the 1920's, 1930's, 1940's and 1950's ... TCM over the last 3 or 4 months has been playing many films from those years ... many are really good and well made, lot of actors that are forgotten today.

Of course there are some good films today even with digital ... just depends on the story line ... but it's nice to see the older films from another era.

I'll go to see the original cast again.  I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by leaving my expectations at the door.  See it for what it is, not necessarily what it could be.

That's definitely the best attitude to take when seeing a movie. Your experience is usually greatly influenced by your expectations.

That reminds me when I went to see Logan's Run when I was in college.  I had read in a photography magazine about the sets, and where the movie was shot, and a few of the effects (it had more people flying by wire simultaneously than any other movie up to that time), so I went to the movie to see the stuff I had read about and thought it was great.  I got just what I wanted out of the movie, while others didn't.

Cheers and Regards

I do not like to time commitment when going to see a movie in the theater recently. Sometimes you can sit there 3-4 hours with all the commercials shown in the beginning. I may change my mind, as I've seen all of them before, but I might just wait until it comes out on DVD/BD.
