We don't promote piracy on msfn but stupidity is another matter..According to the techverse site
"Thanks to Microsoft’s stupidity, Actually anybody can download the Microsoft windows 8.1 ISO files from Microsoft, but all you need to have is a retail windows 8 product key. If you use your genuine windows 8 product key then you can use a workaround to download windows 8.1 ISO files from Microsoft itself."

The media creation method is a good option if op does not care if its a install.esd rather that the install.wim image, anyway here are more detailed instructions from Brink over at:  http://www.eightforu...oad-create.html

Stupidity is how Microsoft are handling Win8's ISO distribution and updating. :)
