Can't extract .exe file with Universal Extractor

I have to admit I am a little out of my depth here.  I am trying to do a universal restore (to a computer with different hardware) on a Dell laptop using Acronis True image.  Acronis needs the driver information  to be in inf. sys. or oem formats. I have downloaded the complete set for the model in question as exe. files from the Dell website and am trying to extract them with Universal Extractor to a set of folders then tell Acronis were to look for them.  All of the exe. format files extract Ok except the BIOS drivers.  When I attemt to extract them I get the following message from Universal Extractor  " F:\Dell laptop drivers\E6330A14.exe cannot be extracted.  Filetype returned was: Microsoft Visual C++ v6.0 DLL [Overlay]*  ".  Can anyone tell me what the problem is (in terms I might be able to understand) and if there is anyway to get around it.

Progress at last thank you very much.  The laptop is a Dell Latitude E6330 and the service tag number is 8RGFRY1 and here is the link to the page I downloaded them from

I had consdered the possibility that these were only updates not the original files, but were to from here.

Basically, unless you are aware of a problem with the BIOS, then I would advise that you leave it alone.  If you are aware of a real need to update the BIOS, then you can check these out for instructions on how to do so - https://www.dell.com/support/article/ca/en/cadhs1/SLN129956/EN and/or 

 

 

 - as generic Dell examples.  As stated above, the BIOS is NOT a driver, but is handled as a separate stand-alone procedure.  Be very careful to follow instructions EXACTLY, because it is possible to completely brick your computer if things go wrong.  Hence my suggestion to leave it alone unless you know of a real need to update the BIOS.

 

Since you say you were able to successfully extract the rest of the actual drivers, what other specific information do you need?

Looks like I shouldn't be messing with the BIOS at all, I was only assuming this was the reason my restore was  not working.

What I am trying to acheive (I think) is to do a full backup of my original computer with Acrois Trueimage.  Then boot the laptop from the Acronis  universal boot CD and tell Acronis in which folder it will find the chipset, HDD and HDD controller drivers as *.inf, *.sys or *.oem extensions.

Acronis  should then be able to do a universal restore (to a computer with different hardware) using the drivers it finds to suit the new hardware after which I can load the remaining drivers to get the laptop fully functional.

It appears to me that Acronis can't see sub folders so I need to know exactly which files I need so I can put them were Acronis can find them and there are an awfull lot of files that have been extracted from the .exe drivers (I already said I was out of my depth).  I have attached a screen print of the .exe drivers I have downloaded, maybe someone could tell me which ones I need.

Now that we have determined that your problem is NOT due to Universal Extractor or the inability to extract from an .EXE, ...
 
It would probably help if we knew:
-- Which OS is involved.
-- Tell us about the original computer the image that you are trying to install came from that you got using Acronis TrueImage.
-- Do you know for sure that the image is a good one and that it is valid? How do you know? [No offense, but you seem to be a beginner, and the problem might be the image itself.]
-- What OS was originally was on the Dell Latitude E6330?

Since, for example, from the above referenced link:
 

Windows 7 includes more drivers than the older Windows operating systems. There is a great chance that Universal Boot finds all necessary drivers in the Windows 7 driver folder. So, you may not necessarily have to specify the external path to the drivers.


So you might not need the drivers at all.

And it would also help if you described in detail:
-- what you did
-- what you expected to happen
-- what actually happened

So far you've just said "my restore was not working." That's like going to a doctor and saying "I don't feel good." We need much more information.

Anyway, once you have provided more info, I'm sure someone will have some specific answers for you.

Also, at that point a mod should probably move this thread to a more appropriate location.

The Drivers you list doesn't jive in any way to what your Service Tag shows (for any OS), because your list looks "short"/"long" in all cases.

 

Do you expect to move (whatever) OS from (whatever old PC) to this laptop (due to "other" software + all your documents)? You're going to get into a "Genuine"/"Activate" problem right away, regardless of the Drivers unless the correct "conditions" are met.

 

We would have to assume that this Laptop is void of the Original OS (indicated by the SvcTag), right? Otherwise, you need tost transfer your Old Settings to the Laptop (MS version of PCMover, God help you).

 

And I also agree, this Topic needs moved.
