Hello!

Hello! It's nice to meet you all. I am a new member to this forum. I've been coming here a lot in the past couple weeks doing research on Windows 98 compatible hardware. Many of the threads in the 9x/ME section of this forum have been incredibly helpful. It's surprising how difficult it can be to find information on some of the older systems. This place seems to be the only reliable and current source of information.

I recently purchased one of the older Alienware "Dragon" cases from the early 2000s era. I had been looking for one of these for about 7 years now and very luckily stumbled upon one for a good price. For many years I've wanted to build a super 98 SE machine and I thought that case would be perfect for it. Now that I have the case, I can finally start building the machine.

Here is the case:

I am very excited to get started and already have some ideas for what to put into it. (Starting with the rereleased ASRock 775I65G mainboard currently for sale on NewEgg) But I would like to start a build thread and post progress as I go and ask questions. Is there a section for that sort of thing on here? I expect this project to take some time and I just know I'm going to run into things that I won't yet understand.

By the way since I'm introducing myself, If you would indulge me, I would like to show off a few of my computers. I greatly enjoy messing around with old hardware and software and learning about them.

Here I have an IBM 5150 PC, a Win95 Micron setup and a Tandy 2500 SX/25 with DOS 6.0 and Win3.1. I use the 95 and the Tandy pretty often for old games mostly, but I'm missing the older DOS disks for the IBM to really do much with it. That one has been a challenge to try to figure out but I'll manage it someday.

My primary computer is an Alienware Aurora Star Wars edition I bought in 2005. I've upgraded it throughout several times since then and currently has an Intel i7 870, 16 GB RAM, EVGA Geforce 670 FTW, Xonar DX sound card, p55 Classified 200 motherboard, 1 TB harddrive and Windows 7 Home Edition. It does well for me. There are a few things I'd like to upgrade on it such as the harddrive to a SSD and my optical drive is failing, but otherwise It's a very good machine.

I also have a 2005 Alienware Aurora very similar to how my Star Wars edition came originally. All original parts (Though the alien head on the front was missing so I replaced it with Darth Vader's.) and I installed the Star Wars theme stuff from my original software disc onto it, so it's kind of like how my primary computer used to be.

Thank you all for reading, it's great to meet you. - Bradley
