dencorso
Download the latest either WindowsUpdateAgent (x86) or WindowsUpdateAgent (x64) and run it, using the /wuforce switch.Reboot.Try again and WU/MU should just work, although you may have to accept the newest WU/MU active-X, if it gets offered to you.HTH

dencorso
@dencorso: I installed WindowsUpdateAgent (x64) (couldn't run it using the /wuforce switch)Did you run it elevated? Of course you already tried the solutions proposed in this page, right? Did you run sfc /scannow? If not, do it, please. If already, then download and run SFCFix, reboot, and try sfc /scannow once again. Another idea: look for %WINDIR%\winSxS\pending.xml and, if found, delete it.
