Haven't found .NET updates, don't know where those are listed.

Bookmark the following MS URL:

as have I (to keep track of WS2008 updates to apply on Vista) ...

According to that URL:

Tuesday, August 8, 2017

Changes to existing nonsecurity content:

Update for .NET Framework 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7 on Windows Embedded 8 Standard and Windows Server 2012 (KB4035508)

Metadata has changed. Binaries have changed. This update will need to be reinstalled.

MS catalog link

Prerequisites:

To apply this update, you must have the .NET Framework 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, or 4.7 installed.

(So not applicable if you're still on 4.5.x).

If I don't want to upgrade to .NET v4.6.1, should I install those updates?

I wouldn't... :P Any particular reason not to upgrade .NET Framework on your Win8 setup?

  • 1 month later...

And time for another repository update:

  • Replaced Monthly Rollup with the new one, KB4038799;
  • Replaced the Flash Player update with the new one, KB4038806;
  • Added this month's Security Only update, KB4038786;
  • Replaced Internet Explorer's cumulative update with the new one, KB4036586;
  • Replaced all of the .NET Framework Security and Quality Rollups with the new ones: KB4040971 for .NET 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2 and 4.7; KB4040975 for .NET 4.5.2 and KB4040979 for .NET 3.5;
  • Added this month's .NET Framework Security Only Updates: KB4040955 for .NET 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2 and 4.7; KB4040959 for .NET 4.5.2 and KB4040965 for .NET 3.5;

And something extra:

  • Added a new folder insider the Extras, containing new files and info about the installation of .NET Framework 4.7, both on x86 and x64;
  • Cleanup of some files on the Security Only updates folder for x86

I think that's all. Hope you enjoy it :thumbup

Appears to be just the Server Core and IE 10 updates for October.  No .NET or Flash.  Anyone yield any different results?

And another (late) repository update with October's patches plus one extra for both x64 and x86. These include:

  • Monthly Rollup: KB4041690
  • Flash Update (released a week after the Monthly Rollup): KB4049179
  • Internet Explorer 10 Cumulative Update and Security Only Update: KB4040685 and KB4041679, respectively
  • .NET Framework Security and Quality Rollup Updates for .NET 3.5 SP1 and 4.5.2 and 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2 and 4.7: KB4040979, KB4040975 and KB4043762, together with the required pre-requisite update KB4019990
  • .NET Framework 4.7.1: KB4033345 (extracted from the .exe installer), together with the required pre-requisite update KB4019990 and instructions for language pack installation

I've also put the Update Rollups in their own folder in the Extras, for easier navigation.

That is all... See you next month :)

Thanks for the heads up Greenhillmaniac

:)

So does the IE 10 security only update remain listed in your repository for the last month, or is there a backup of all previous ones? I know for the Flash update only the last one is needed.

I also find the .NET listings on the Microsoft Catalog confusing.  I just want the security only updates for the default installed .NET Framework (which is v4.5 right?).  But it seems that updates for v4.6x and v4.7x also install.

So IE Security-Only Updates are called "Quality" updates?  How would anyone have realize that this was for IE 10?

IE10 updates are cumulative and only necessary if you only install the Security Only updates, since the Monthly Rollups already include it.

As for .NET updates, there are 3 files basically released each month: one for .NET 3.5 SP1, one for .NET 4.5.2 and one for .NET 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2 and 4.7. Security Only .NET updates are a mess, and I recomend that you just simply install the Quality Rollups, because they don't release in tandem with the QR and are harder to track.

One other thing regarding.NET updates.  If I install the Quality Rollup for v4.5.2, how far back does it update the component?  Four months?  Five months.  So on a clean install of Windows 8, after I've updated to January 2016, can I just install the last Quality Rollup?

:)
