winxp1234
I was trying to uninstall SpeedFan few days ago, it came back on every restart. Later I noticed that every file created or deleted, every setting changed reverts back on every startup. I have to boot the PC from a Linux live USB to delete or add any file. System restore is off. I can't restore. I am not using a software like Deepfreeze and I have never installed. The problem started suddenly. Running Windows XP x86 SP3. Changing files in Safe Mode isn't permanent as well. Tripredacus
It sounds like your OS is running in a RAMDISK, RAM Overlay or Write Filter. It is difficult to say anything really, your installation is not common. Perhaps you can tell us how you made this install?

Try using Autoruns to find what starts with the system and might cause problem. Remember to make a backup before modifying any value! I'm wondering if there is any FRST magician on the board to help you view the system logs.
