Up to date programs for customising Windows 7 installer?

Hello,

I'd like to slipstream the Windows 7 convenience rollup and other recent updates into my Windows 7 installer ISO, and customise the installer a bit by removing unneeded components, activating/deactivating services, and other tweaks (I don't need to create an unattended installation).

I see that there's NTLite for doing this, but a license for it is very expensive for me since I'm probably only going to use it a couple of times! I also see that there's "7 customizer" but it seems like a dead project.

So are there other up to date programs for customizing a Windows 7 ISO to do the things I listed above that I can try? Where do I get them? Or is NTLite the only one? Thanks!

RT7 Lite seems to work.  I've used it to create win7-sp1 rollups with over 500 kb files and other stuff (like IE10 and .net).

And by the way, there are some kb's inside the convenience roll-up that are "bad" by most measures - hence why I've manually rolled in only the good kb's and none of the bad ones.

Sorry about my late response. Is there an updated master list of bad KBs for Windows? Thanks!

Here's what I have for what is probably the most comprehensive "bad" kb list on the internet for Windows 7.

Also note this:  I have paid ZERO attention to updates starting Sept. 2016.  From what I know, those are now monthly roll-up packages, and I don't know to what degree anyone has unpacked them or even if separate updates still even exist in kb-number form inside them and if so - are these kb's available individually.  I also don't know if anyone has made any discoveries or made statements as to the "bad-ness" of these roll-ups or individual components inside them.  If there have been such statements, let me know where to find them and I'll include them in this bad-list.

I have a win-7 SP1 32-bit system with .net 4.61 and IE10 that was installed from an image created by RT7 that has *never* performed a WindowsUpdate download.   At the time I made the install image (August 2016) that system was up-to-date as far as WindowsUpdates was concerned (aside from a handful of KB's that I classify as bad).  That image contained over 200 "good" KB's rolled in.  I've just performed an update check and this is what is being offered by WindowsUpdate for this system:

Cumulative Security Update IE 10 KB3124275 ? possibly part of RT7 install rollup
December, 2016 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET KB3205402 ? no data on this, not in my bad list
January, 2017 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Win7 KB3212646 ? no data on this, not in my bad list

Update for Win 7 KB2506928 bad was mentioned in a "bad" list, no reason given
Update for Win 7 KB2545698 bad was mentioned in a "bad" list, no reason given
Update for Win 7 KB2592687 bad was mentioned in a "bad" list, no reason given
Update for Win 7 KB2647753 ? no data on this, not in my bad list, can't find out what it's for
Update for Win 7 KB2660075 bad was mentioned in a "bad" list, no reason given
Update for Win 7 KB2726535 bad was mentioned in a "bad" list, no reason given
Security Update KB3042058 bad contains Winlogon Spying
Security Update KB3086255 bad disables SafeDisc games
Update for Win 7 KB3138612 bad "Fishy update"
Security Update KB3177186 ? pertains to SMB server security?

Thank you Nomen, amazing list! I'd like to integrate this into my Windows 7 installation media. So far what I've found is this vbs script, but it requires manually adding each KB. I'll try it the next time I get a chance, but let me know if there's a more efficient way!

This might help: How to make an updated ISO with Windows 7 SP2 Convenience Rollup so Windows Update works: http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-make-an-updated-iso-with-windows-7-sp2-convenience-rollup-so-windows-update-works/ But that was before the cumulative rollups started from October 2016. I am happy with an updated image till mid-2016. I manually download and install the latest update rollup. Then WU works for me.

Hello again,

I've slipstreamed the latest Simplix 20 April 2017 update pack into my Windows 7 installation. Afterwards, Windows Update still gives me a list of updates, most of which are on the "bad KBs" list provided by @Nomen above.

However, Windows update also lists the following four KBs that are not on the "bad" list. Can anyone confirm if it's OK to install them? Here they are:

there are ton of bad KB's even some on "safe list"
it just depend how which PC react to them

Thank you @vinifera, but I'm sorry I don't understand. What does "how which PC react to them" mean? Can you elaborate? And how do I decide if I want to install them if they are not on a bad list?

MDL forum has alot discussion of which ones are they

as to what do I mean, on some machines some KB's work well, on others they break system
