I used to have an Adata SSD with Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista SP2 on it. I downloaded an utility from their website (I think it only works for Adata SSD's) which was able to manually perform TRIM. It worked on Windows XP and Vista.

I used XP for about 3 years on a SSD with no trim functionality. It had no effect on performance, whatsoever.

Further to that, I installed Vista on the very same SSD (Intel; on which it still resides) and after installing close to 2GB of update files I ran trim via the Intel SSD toolbox program. Take a guess how long it took for the trim command to finish 'cleaning' the drive? Answer: about 1 (one) second.

As far as I know modern SSDs manage this issue by themselves and don't need any external "trimming".

any proof to confirm this?could be helpful as im planning to use my ssd on vista
