Debuging is part of the development process, and therefore since the debugger is open always this is a "dev" version.

It's just a console made with a call to AllocConsole that spams messages, debuggers let you step through code, inspect variables etc.

Oh crud! What a mess... And also showed up this error. (I took the shot on my phone because the ghosting wasn't too visible on a screenshot)

EDIT: I managed to fix the problem by completely restarting AeroGlass using AeroGlass launcher.

How do I add theme support to the Aero Glass developer build?

http://glass8.eu/download

^ at the bottom of the page there are some tools that you might be looking for, not exactly 100% sure on what you mean by theme support.
You could download the stable build and also grab the (default).png and (default).png.layout if you mean getting custom theme atlases, which can be applied using the AeroGlassGui Tool also on the downloads page.

Just use an atlas theme file. It has the close, maximize, minimize buttons and the title bars

true but those don't provide custom navigation buttons. what @BKDeath20 is asking about is the DLL that allowed custom msstyle theme support. As far as I know, that broke with the Creators Update as from 1703 onward it just BSOD'd my system.

The latest version, 1.5.6.1255, finally works for me (the prior ones crashed DWM hard, to the point where I couldn't even start Aero Glass).  Thank you, Big Muscle.

Though I've put in my own theme atlas (trivial to use the RoundedCorners.png that I had made before, since Big Muscle implemented the .layout translation feature), I have not yet done a full theme replacement.  I really dislike flat, lifeless controls, and I had a pretty usable setup with v1703 that rounded the corners of buttons and gave them a little more recognizability using an aero7 replacement theme.  Since themes cut deep and could pose stability problems, I would like to hear from others who have both added Aero Glass and have found a good theme that both rounds the corners of buttons and gives skeuomophism (3D appearance) to controls.

EDIT:  I have successfully loaded the aero7 theme by sagorpirbd.  That still seems to work OK.

VMware Workstation Pro 14 is facilitating full-screen operation of my test VM for me again (I had lost that with version 11), so it's possible to immerse myself completely in my tweaked Win 10 to do real fitness for purpose testing.  I've already done some of that with the stock Windows 10 (lack of) theme and found that after a whole day of using it heavily for my work I was more tired than when I had a more elegant theme.  It seems to have enough functionality, though.

FYI, there are a couple of visual glitches to report:

1.  An inactive normal GDI window uses the active border from the theme atlas (you might have accidentally switched active/inactive border coloration in the code).  This doesn't seem to happen on ribbon-enabled windows.  Note the slight blue coloration in the border of the "Inactive normal window" Notepad instance in this screen grab, for example:

AeroGlassWindowBorderGlitch.png

2.  You can also see in the above that the title coloring and backing are not working for the Wordpad window.

3.  I didn't get a screen grab but I lost the upper-right corner of an Internet Explorer window on my right monitor once so far when using Windows 10 in full-screen mode across all monitors.

4.  Moving windows around seems quite slow (just a few frames per second refreshes), even though I've got a pretty fast system and a very good video card.  I can possibly attribute this to running Win 10 in a VM, though most everything else seems fast.

Hello everyone!

I believe this might be my first or 2nd/3rd time posting here, but I was here since Windows 10 beta stage (then switched back to W7) for 2 years.
Recently I'm back in W10 and tried to use the installer only to find out it didn't work because of MS and the new update.

I tried the instructions joeberardis talked about but it didn't work for me at all. (replacing the .dll, download the zip, uninstall, use the scheduler as admin)

I'm wondering if someone can be kind enough to walk me through the entire process with the files once more. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, as I've tried to follow every step, including deleting aeroglass from my regedit. Also I will like to get that Noel's theme if possible. Can someone be kind enough to give me a hand?

Thank you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Update: I've finally figured how to do this. Now I just need to figure it out for the task bar....

I don't know. As much hope as I would like to have that we'll always have aero glass it seems to be fading. I'm getting used to just not having it however I still create my own theme and make it as much as rounded as possible with attention to detail and soothing aesthetics. I purchased WSB and extracted nearly every element from Sagorpirbd's 7 theme on Deviantart. Insert them into the Default Windows 10 Aero theme, extracted a few parts for the rounded corners (top/bottom) and voila. At least for me I like it. Then for the icons, I simply replaced the default Windows 10 imagres.dll with the Windows 7 imageres.dll and that was that. I still like those icons.

It would be nice to have the aero glass but it is getting to be quite the pain. The one thing I have found you have to be careful of otherwise you will either not be able to load windows from logon or it will be black is that you have to pay extremely close attention to DPI values. Every element must be compatible with each level of dpi at least up to 250%.

In terms of Aero glass, perhaps that may also be where some users are encountering issues, depending on DPI settings.

I'll share a screen shot with as much in it I can to show.

Nutrynion,
Did you make a theme atlas or the whole theme? And are you sharing?
It's looking good from what I can tell.

Thank you!

I made the entire theme from scratch so to speak. I copied the default aero theme from Windows 10 FCU to a separate folder, injected all the new elements into it, changed other elements (Font colors mostly and some other basics), then replaced it (in windows\resources....). I saved the original aero theme in a back up for just in case.  All with Windows Style Builder and Photoshop.

As for the icons, up button and removal of the Views and Help button in the command bar, those are accomplished by editing the shell32.dll.mui file in the system32\en-us and syswow64\en-us folders. Basically creating icon image class entries to overwrite the class entry for those specific icons in the actual shell32.dll file. Because you cannot edit the shell32.dll file directly, or windows will not load. However the imageres.dll file you can which must be done in both System32 and SysWow64. Then simply deleting iconcache and using Disk Cleanup to delete cached thumbnails will reset all the icons. (Took me a while to figure that out).

I suppose I could share. I've not shared my themes before. Just have to make sure to warn people of the risks and all that which I don't like to think of being responsible for if someone corrupts their system. Though I've done it to myself a number of times, I've learned almost every possible way to fix it, even from boot up into troubleshooting options you can access the file system on any installation of windows to revert files back (provided that you rename the original files to something like imageres.dll_ORIG). You basically choose restore from System Image, then choose Install device drivers, choose browse, and you can access your windows directory. It will be a different disk than the one you're using to load the startup with. I use a USB with a copy of Windows 10 Install on it. (ISO to usb sort of thing).

I will consider putting this on my Deviantart page in the customization themes section.

So far I have not had any actual problems. The only app loaded in the ApplicationFrameHost.exe log is the settings app but I have tried a couple others and will gladly share more logs if you want me to =)

I---EDIT---

I just added the Microsoft Windows Explorer log since opening the Groove Musci player app opened that up, lol.  I hope these will come in useful for ya =)
